I agree, this version gives it such a melancholic and heartfelt vibe that the original version doesn't have. Interestingly, I feel like the song fits better into the soundscape of the 2020s than the 2010s. Back then, it always felt a bit like an outlier on Cannibal because the soft, mellow production was different from the bombastic, maximalist nature of the other Cannibal tracks. It wasn't a huge fan favorite either because the other tracks represented the sound of that time period better. But nowadays, it sounds weirdly current and like something that could be played on the radio without sounding dated. I listened to it more times since she performed it than at any point during the last 15 years.
