Playing Sabrina's new album expecting more bops like Espresso, but ended up with a bunch of midtempo folk and country songs  

 

And if you think about it this year:

- Beyonce went country (there are some bops but it's a lot less dancey than Ren)

- Taylor released a 2-hour lullaby

- Dua's album is a lot more chill and laidback than FN

- Billie being Billie as usual

- Gaga released yet another HAC ballad

- Ari, despite having 2 dance-pop singles, released her most intimate album

 

Why does nobody release uptempo / feel-good music anymore? Should we bring 2009 back??

I feel like climatic bridges are lacking in pop music. Just easy, quick listening. Bridges were so full of life when you think of classics like BOMT, Crazy In Love, and Bad Romance. Im not saying that they don't exist anymore, but they really aren't a priority anymore.

They're all "artists" now 

They are growing artistically and are past the time of releasing generic pop songs

most older artists don't care about the music anymore, they're not passionate about it like they were when they first started out

 

they just release new albums every few years so they can tour and get a huge paycheck
