I've never seen such a hate-train run through an MPG like this before. I don't think there is any way for her to recover and I feel the tour will be canceled like J-Lo.

She's gonna stick around but will probably do another residency or some nostalgic type of tour

I've been saying Katy doesn't have the talent and vision to reinvent herself and successfully pull off a comeback. She completely sold out after the first record and everything since seems like a rehash of the past. Her branding this album as the dance album that she always wanted to make is the final nail in the coffin. Nobody wants a generic dance record from Katy. I wish her better luck with that inevitable acoustic album at 45. All those viral tweets and ATRL threads are just people clinging to the past just like Miss Perry is. The world has moved on. It's time that stan twitter obsessed with nostalgia take a hint and do the same. Katy is doing like 200K likes on some IG posts. That's a better representation of her popularity than a viral tweet.

Katy's been over in the pop world for over a decade now.

Yes, she was already over as a MPG, but judging by how this era is playing out I think she may be done for as an artist altogether.

 

See when you do the clownery 

She could appeal to the republican demographic and become the female Morgan Wallen 

I feel like we're a few months out from her getting dropped by Capitol at this point 

Her career will never be over, she's a huge name 

 

She will probably never see the success of teenage dream/One of the Boys and Prism, but she'll always have people interested in her music 

she still has a massive tour planned ahead (i guess)

This has been getting asked every 4 years that she puts an album out for the past 10 years so... 

She will always be famous but doubt she'll ever have that world domination she once had with her music. 
she will probably continue her streak of random reality show appearances and release collabs with random DJs to keep her name out there. Probably another Vegas residency, etc 

Yes and ngl it's karma for slapping all of her fans who have been through rape and abuse in the face by working with a 2x (possibly more) rapist. I honestly see 143 performing worse than Smile and I can't even picture how bad the tour is going to do outside of major cities. As someone who was a proud Katy Kat from 2008-2020, it pains me to know the woman I once had plastered on my wall and on the top of all my playlists showcased that she doesn't think men raping women, men pushing women into eating disorders, and men putting women through financial abuse through the legal system is a matter that should be taken seriously. I can only hope this floppage and backlash inspires her to not only put out better music but to be a better person. She should just let this era die and have fun riding Orlando while selling shoes and mocktails. 

Certainly not *over* - she has 9 #1's and the TD era will always be a pinnacle of pop, no one can take that away from her.

She will stay booked and busy just off her name and legacy alone.

 

The size and frequency of those bookings is another question  

Going forward with new releases though - yes - she's not going to be making any more waves in the kiddy pool

Yes. Her image has been ruined since Prism and she made zero steps to remedy it and instead keeps expecting the new material to smash as if last time was a fluke. Love her but 143 is not something you come back from.

Yes clearly 

Her time as a MPG ended long ago but this is confirmation that she'll likely only ever be a niche pop artist if she continues to make music.  It's very obvious she wanted WW and Lifetimes to make a lot of noise and become major hits, and her failure to do so requires some self reflection bc she's never going to be happy with her career if that is the goal.

Being an influencer is still a career. She can always sell slimming teas or solar panels or something. 

As a Katycat, it's been so frustrating to see how there was so much anticipation for her return, only for her to squander it by making blunder after blunder and screwing it up in every way possible. What makes it worse is that the music isn't great either - Witness was a PR nightmare but at least the music slapped. I can't believe the insane hype I had for this when she first started teasing is now gone, I never thought this would happen. It sucks

Doing an entire album with rapist Dr. Luke was the final nail in her coffin. She's done.
