I love some Katy and I've been rooting for her return and this era but damn give us something to cheer for! I remember those rumors of her doing dark pop and going to Sweden or Europe to work in dancey tracks and then she comes out with WW and LT?

 

WW was ok but felt like lazy and the lyrics are generic but ok maybe it was a song with a message but then LF is just that phrase over and over with barely any production or thought, this is the best she could write for her daughter? It feels repetitive and lazy, and that's 2/2 mid songs from Dr. Luke so maybe she shouldn't have done so many song with him, and not because of the legal things, but because he's a one trick pony, she should have worked with Max Martin or Ilya (who did Eternal Sunshine) or with The weekend producers or something, there's no growth and this sounds like PRISM (shein's version).

 

There's no layers to the song, richness in the production or lyrics and feels like it was done rushed I honestly can't believe that she took 4 years to comeback with this, Witness at least tried to do something different, Smile was a mixed bag of demos and droplets and this is a U turn to replicate that early 10s sound, like Talk that Talk or Animal, Artpop and Femme Fatale.

This sounds so dated and unfinished. Honestly she needs to make things right with Bonnie McKee. That's the old collaborator she should have reached out to, not Puke. Sad!

I was very excited from the snippets but the verses are weirdly not good at all. They almost kill the song for me.

My Spotify algorithm followed this song with: Applause - Circus - Ready for It. I don't get how each of those songs have significantly better production despite being much, much older. 

This should have been the lead. 

 

What were they thinking its so summer and summer is half over lol. This sounds gay pride event.

Circus does but Applause was a dated mess on arrival.

And Luke was the main producer behind most of Bonnie and Katy's work together 

 

Bonnie has been jealous and shady towards Katy for many years for whatever reason. They're never working together again. Period.

This Bonnie stuff needs to stop. 2010 was a lifetime ago (pun intended). Just because they collab'ed on hits then doesn't mean they could do it again now.

The verses sound disjointed from the chorus (which is SUPER catchy) and bring the whole song down. The production sounds like something a high schooler with GarageBand can produce. I am shocked to say maybe WW is even better than this. 

One thing forsure is this is a harmless Bop! 

I wish there was a second verse but overall this is better than the first single

It's very cute. Reminds me of the summery house-infused bops we had in like 2015-2017 ish.
 

If it was the lead, I feel like it would've had a fighting chance to become a smash but now following up after the colossal mess that WW was, I'm not so sure this has a chance…either way, definitely the right step in the direction!
