To try and pretend like as though what Katy has done is not significantly different than most - to give him a huge platform in producing what is going to be half her album and allowing him to be the executive producer of it - needs to be interrogated. Why lie in this way? You can't claim to disagree with her working with him uet seemingly lie about the actual reality of how she is working with him to save her ego and your own. 

I'll say this again, you're giving Katy too much credit when it comes to sustaining and upholding Dr.Luke's career. Whether she collabed with him or not, he would be far from over.

 

If you find solace thinking it's as easy as just not working with him, be my guest, but dr.Luke's career is well cemented in an industry that is rotten to the core with all this kind of abuses. If Katy wasn't working with him, he would find new starting artists to sign with, and pretty easily im afraid. Callout Katy for her choices, yes, but dr luke would still have huge platform without her

One million times this. And what bothers me is that I know she has that in her. She's just afraid to tap into it, and she's more interested in being famous than she is about being good at what she does.

She needs to realize people loved her because her brand came off organic and genuine. Her demise came the minute she started chasing trends instead of setting them.

What's most concerning is that she seems to think these tracks are some sort of creative renaissance and going to stage a big comeback for her. She could've either gone the "artist evolution and maturity" route or the "give us the pop bangers" route... yet she somehow did neither.

Maybe setting trends was a reach. However, she did have her own brand of being a girl next door with catchy tunes. Her music was very pop but it also had her own flavor. Then she decided to edge it up and people were not buying it because at the end of the day GP ain't here for Katy a serious artist. 

I loved Nirvana but it sounds like music only for gays, I don't think it would go far
I didn't feel Gimme Gimme (personally, it's very urban, I wish it had a more pop sound), but this one seems more strategic to go further
