In the ever-flowing river of time, it's time we take a reflective pit stop and reconsider our treatment of Ellen DeGeneres. Remember when we collectively hit the cancel button on her? Yeah, that was a moment. But let's zoom out for a sec. Ellen's always been there, dishing out love to our faves and redefining what it means to be an LGBT icon. She's basically the cheerleader of the rainbow squad. So, as we scroll through our mental timeline, maybe it's time to ask ourselves: Did we go a tad overboard with the public persecution? Are we ready to extend that olive branch and say, "Hey Ellen, sorry about the whole backlash thing"? And hey, maybe the GeePee should join in on the introspection party and recognize that, hey, maybe we all overreacted just a smidge. Just food for thought.

Is this a joke? She spent years terrorizing her staff. Why should anyone forgive her? By the way she still has millions of sheep fans and is still rich.  

I loved watching her show as a kid but as I got older / she got older, it became increasingly obvious that she was really disconnected from the GP. She had this annoying, insidious both sides mentality along with a "I'm rich because I deserve to be" mentality, the latter of which is really common with the more demonic rich supervillians of today. 

 

I honestly think if WB had looked harder, they would have found a lot more going on BTS than what was discovered. It's especially disappointing because we have so few well-known queer celebs and I do think she made a positive influence on public perception of queer people in the countries her show aired in, at least initially. 

No, she had her time and made her choices. There are plenty of funny queer people out there who wouldn't treat people like dirt in similar conditions. Let's shift our attention and well-wishes to them.

Why should we forgive her for being a piece of **** person? Who clearly couldn't give two shits for her employees. She clearly didn't care about there opinion regarding work place environment. She only cared what her peers and celeb friends thought of her.  She deserve to rot in her forgotten LA home.

Yeah I'm trying to remember what exactly led to her cancellation and it was all just... rumors about her being mean  Meanwhile, the twitter gays would let straight white men get away with much worse on a daily basis

She treated employees horribly, and the both-sides friendships (caping for Kevin Hart when some homophobic remarks came out and being friends with George "Kill 1 million+ innocent Iraqis" Bush) proved that rich people really value socioeconomic status above all else. She also has more money than you or I will ever have or need. If anything, she can enjoy it while largely out of the public eye for the rest of her life. 
 

Now part of me does wonder if the gRoOmiNg PaNiC of 2022 would've gone as far as it did/has if her show was still on the air. She had an insane reach into the homes and work places of middle America. No other queer person has since had such influence in that community. I sincerely think her show could've been one of the most effective tools to snuff a lot of that propaganda from the middle-aged demographic if she chose to do so. 
 

That obviously doesn't excuse anything she's done. And I'm not advocating for her show to come back either. But I do wish there was another queer person that had her audience/reach (especially with middle America) that she did because I feel like some of the vitriol towards trans people, drag performers, and the queer community as a whole wouldn't be as widespread (though polling shows that most Americans are opposed to it). Of course, she might've did what she did with Kevin Hart so
