The melody sounds A LOT like “Say It” by Nelly Furtado and I wouldn’t be surprised if she sampled that song because she’s mentioned being inspired by 2000s pop music over the past few years.

Took them long enough tbh. Felt like they did nothing ever since the album release. Maybe this means that they're finally going to start promoting the era! I'm also ecstatic because this is my favorite song of the album, other than The Architect.

Cardinal was immediately sent to AAA radio upon album release. Its official peak is at #5 (on the June 30th update). Unfortunately, it has fallen down to #8 since then, though it doesn't seem like to be rapidly falling. With that said, I still have a hard time believing it'll have a comeback on that format. I do hope her team plan to send it to Hot AC and AC because I feel like it could peak inside the Top 20 on both of these formats tbh.
