Being yourself, wether flamboyant or not, is never a reason or excuse to be hate-crimed, in no way is this your fault. You should be allowed to be yourself in public without fear of emotional or physical violence. I'm very sorry this happened to you and your friend and I understand how upsetting it is, feeling unsafe and living in fear that it will happen again, feeling emasculated. I hate to hear that one of the most progressive countries is experiencing this. I hope you're doing okay and wish you minimal emotional scaring. Do what you need to do to feel safe, including going to an art event/party to be around safe people, I'm sure your friend will understand.
