tbf I get your point. Leigh Anne, Keisha, Mel B and countless others were disrespected and treated poorly in their respective groups. Who other than Mis Teeq or like … Eternal (after Louise left) has been a black British girl group seeing success? I do agree our racist country doesn’t deserve them and they’d get their flowers more in the US. The issue is how they’re being pushed.

I remember their slayage at the summertime ball and the audience...*crickets*... whoever manages should push them to get a label distribution in the US...they have everything to make it if they lean on the R&B "Urban" sound solely... 

I remember catching all sorts of flack from Flo stans on ATRL for stressing that they needed a "hit" and quickly after Fly Girl didn't take off and alas, like others have said, this does feel kind of make or break for them.

 

The Pros: The song sounds cute and the exact type of catchy / GP-accessible needed. Though the production sounds a little cheap and "tinny".

 

The Cons: something about the cover, budget, and overall styling atm feels cheap and not in line with the "elevated" presentation of Fly Girl. 

 

TBH, them going a bit more back to basics visually and giving kinda DIY may actually work to their benefit if it means the budget and strategy can be best aligned to ensure they are releasing music that will continue to catch on.

rooting for them so much, but that doesn't sound like a hit to me either. very flamboyant again like Fly Girl. but hopefully they'll continue building their fanbase with it! 

I'm pretty hard on groups like this (and their teams), because it really feels like a lot of them don't get "it". Y'all were applauding all those dry EPs and spot songs they were dropping as helping "build an audience". That works for acts that are pursuing critical success. These girls are going for a MAINSTREAM Misteeq/UK Destiny's Child angle, so there's a need for commercial songs that click. Like a whole bag of Cardboard Box's...back-to-back-to-back. For example, look at Tyla with Water and now Truth or Dare.

 

In the absence of that happening, ruthless labels can and do drop acts with the quickness. So, I always always get annoyed with the whole "they are just releasing for their fans" and "quality first, the success will come" delusion of some stans.

 

Have personally witnessed so many "cool" "buzzy" acts come and go because of this. It really is a...business. And I say this as someone who enjoys some of the deeper cuts like Feature Me.

 

That said, one hurdle in front of them that isn't their fault is the UK being their main market. 

 

The UK is just too narrow of a scene to really blow-blow an outright R&B act. It's not like there's a whole commercial genre-specific chart like America has for R&B that they could dominate. All the artists in the UK are vying for the same main chart; one that when it embraces Urban does so more in a Rap/Grime capacity with the Central Cee's, Stormzy's, Dave's etc. 

 

It's a shame. Because they have the potential to be a medium-big fish in a small pond, but (for all those saying they should go to the US), the question is do they bring enough to the table to stand out in a market with loads of comparable/equally talented homegrown groups? It's a catch 22, it seems.

They do have a us label lol! That how they booked these Jimmy Fallon slot! I think they’re under Republic records

They need to stick to upbeat tracks that can easily crossover to pop like fly girl and cardboard box. Any twitter stans asking them to do pure RNB should be ignored as noise.

 

I think they should just focus on the UK where they are already charting and then expand to the rest of Europe. No need to waste money trying to succeed in the US

They actually chart and win awards in the UK, they have yet to do either in the US. They don't even chart on bubbling under

 

I have been obsessed with the extended snippet of the song... I need them to drop it ASAP
