Taylor is a Superstar only, she is no legend. You have to be great at your actual job, not just the marketing side of it, to be a legend, or even an icon.

Britney is more of an icon than legend. Being a legend requires a certain level of respect.

 

And Selena is nowhere near an icon.

I personally don’t see icon and legend as mutually exclusive.  Like Madonna is a music icon but also a legend.  
 

that said, I would say Miley Cyrus is maybe an icon at this point and Rihanna is maybe a legend.  But overall seems more or less a legit ranking. 

No, Katy Perry doesn’t belong in the same tier as Lady Gaga and Rihanna. These two are arguable legends, along with Taylor Swift and Adele (who’s missing in that ranking). Unfortunately, I don’t think Britney’s going to reach legend status because she’s lacking in the respect department - both from the industry and the GP. Ariana is also undeniably an icon and so is Miley.

 

Legends:

Beyoncé: she’s the only one to check all boxes (even time wise)

 

Arguable legends (will be legends but need longer careers):

Taylor Swift

Lady Gaga

Rihanna

Adele

He actual job which is making music and yes performing on tour, both of which she is incredibly subpar at by any standards but sell extremely well and have a lot of marketing around them for sure hun. Any other female popstar, specially non-white artists who don't come from racist 'country' music background, wouldn't have a 10th of the same praise and attention even if they were miles better than her.
