I'm not against sampling if it's done right, i think sampling is good when the artist transforms it and makes it something new, but lately these samples are just copy & paste of older songs.. when someone does that (especially multiple times) it's like they're telling us they're not creative enough to come up with their own melodies so they have to rely on older hits :michael:

Cameltoe Chariot

At this point I only ever see Ava Max's name on ATRL, and it's usually just people dragging her :gaycat5:

I love Diamonds & Dancefloors and Whenever, Wherever is one of my favourite songs of all time...

This sounds tragic.

Enough with these **** samples. I miss the days of creative, good samples like Mariah and Janet did them.

Hip hop is much better at sampling than pop. Idk how to explain it, pop is much lazier about how they use the samples. Hip hop cleverly puts a new twist on them to layer the new song, pop basically uses sampling as an excuse to recycle old choruses.

Paint the Town Red is a great example of how to sample well.

This is an interpolation, not a sample. Sampling and interpolation are an art and this new generation of writers and producers are mad lazy. They need to go back to hip hop and really understand the art of sampling before trying to execute it. Also, the original artist need to have more pride in their work and quit licensing these LAZY samples and interpolations for a cute lil check.

Got Me Started is the ONLY pop song in recent memory that uses a sample to elevate the song, not ride the back of the sampled song. However I still consider it a lazy sample as they didn’t really create something new out of the sample just used it to elevate their own song.

Anyway Ava is a hack.

I’m not sure I like it but I enjoy Kygo and Ava on their own so I’ll give it a chance

This trend of sampling everything all the time needs to die. It’s boring, lazy and uninspired most of the time. Artists could and should do better and this goes for everyone not only Ava Max.
