Sorry to be a bummer, Saltburn was pretty and Rosamund ate but it was just ok. Also the fact that everyone on set aside from Barry came from posh aristocrat families (including the director) doesn’t sit right with me given the movie’s message about class.

This shouldn't be a question. Saltburn was disappointing and Oliver's character was underdeveloped. What were his motifs? And where was the commentary on rich people in society?

So the Oscar-winning Korean smasha PARASITE is the correct answer :suburban:

Saltburn is entertaining and fun but Parasite is -- and I usually hate using this word -- near objectively the better film. It's one of the best movies of the 21st century, if not ever.

Honestly, my original thread idea was, “Is Saltburn poor man’s Parasite?” but I didn’t want to be so rude.

:clack:

South Korea sweetie…

Saltburn attempted to be “riddled with social commentary” and failed miserably

Haven’t seen Saltburn yet. Is it good?

It’s entertaining! Have low expectations though.

Saltburn better to look at, Parasite better movie.

I don’t even really agree with that, Jacob Elordi’s face aside. The cinematography in Parasite is gorgeous. Should have won that Oscar, Editing, and both supporting acting categories too.

The only time I regretted buying a movie ticket was after watching Saltburn. Comparing it to a modern classic like Parasite is a joke :deadbanana2:

I just peeped that it's 2 hours long. Dayum! Shite better be entertaining fr.

Parasite is one of the best movies in recent history and Saltburn is just good.  They’re not really that similar either.

One is an absolutely amazing film (Parasite) and one is a good movie that left a lot of potential on the table (Saltburn). Both enjoyable but not comparable (for me).

Westerners could never produce a social commentary thriller like Parasite. Just two different perspectives from two different societies. I haven't watched Saltburn so let me not say which one is better.
