Renaissance: What went wrong?

Well I don't know about you but when I saw her perform BREAK MY SOUL at the BET Awards I was sold, I immediately bought three copies, and pre-ordered the album. Then, when she dropped the visuals on release week I couldn't stop playing the album, and though I took a break for about a week from it, when she performed that medley at the VMAs, I had to buy a vinyl. And later when CUFF IT was being promoted and she appeared on morning talk shows to catch the GP, I finally became obsessed with the track, and was so excited when she released the remix and its associated music video in the fall. I expected her to perform at the Grammys, and was not disappointed. Her performance was amazing, and me and all my friends didn't stop streaming the album. There was just so much great, heavy promo!!!

I don't know if I should laugh or cry at this

Omg :skull:

Ren era is a success. I see why the monsters are mad.

Gaga already did house music more effectively with Chromatica! (Beyoncé tried to copy her by snatching her producers, but the result wasn't as effective!)

Bigger singles, bigger album, bigger tour, and Grammys. Um seems more effective to me! :fan:

Desperate sounding songs like Church Girl and songs that sound like bowel movement like All Up in Your Mind.

Metacritic shows Chromatica at 79, and Renaissance at 91, More hits, higher grossing tour.

So if not critically or commercially, where was chromatica most effective? Promoting oreos and migraine pills? Mayhaps she should bundle the album with the pills to help get over the headaches from that dated pots and pans production chromatica has

not rupaul tracks :bibliahh:

the album just sucks and everyone is over beyonce.

“Everyone is OVER Beyonce!” Has she just had one of the most successful European tour legs, ever, and her album reached billions of Spotify streams after less than a year of release :rip:

I really don’t understand the Gaga vs Bey thing, they are not from the same generation or typically the same genre, they sometimes barely cross paths

When they made telephone Bey was already like 13 years into her career :rip:

Also I don’t understand why still push the narrative that Chromatica is even comparable to Renaissance, the album already destroyed it in every single metric

Like there’s no reason to drag Gaga into this mess if she’s going to get eaten in the thread by everyone :rip:

Oh wow, our weekly thread by a monster hiding behind another artist!

Well chromatica certainly sold more jockstraps than Renaissance

She was a visual artist almost all of her career until suddenly she wasn't.

They are back on sale. Go on monsters. Get your jock on!

Isn't it still charting moderately? She produced two hits and huge smash tour. I don't see anything wrong:giraffe:

I don't think anything went wrong. It's been pretty successful.

It's unfortunate whatever happened with the visuals happened, but overall, it's done very well - it's like her most commercially successful era in a minute

Because Beyoncé only did House music after listening to Chromatica. She even hired the same producers that Gaga used! As well as hired the same merch team that Gaga used, etc. How can you not compare them, ya know?

I seriously doubt Beyonce listened to Chromatica :skull:

I honestly love Chromatica but the album was not a big success and not many people outside gays know about it

And Renaissance and Chromatica are extremely different albums, the only song that sounds a bit similar is BMS and it’s because it’s a standard house beat.

I honestly don’t think Beyonce knows about the existence of that album.

Why do people think she would copy a semi-flop album released during the pandemic?

You sound troubled. HOUSE music does not belong to a white woman, BLACK people originated HOUSE music all the way back in Detroit. If bey woke up and decided she wanted to make a dance album, she won't stop because LADY GAGA released a mess of an album. Be serious please and get cultured

I agree...LMAO. Its just so funny the way you said it. Renaissance was not a DANCE album not house, REN has so many facets of dance music including house but i see that user isn't the lightest bulb in the shed.
