Learning a fourth language. I'm currently at the beginning, and while it's not bad so far, I fear that it might become challenging.ย Personally, I struggle with the approach of simply staring at words and trying to memorize them; it feels incredibly dull to me. I wonder if anyone actually learns effectively that way. I crave something that can keep me motivated and engaged throughout the learning process. Of course, spending a good amount of time w/ the language is super important for successful learning.

I've definitely noticed that in my case, already knowing three languages helps me understand the fourth one better. There are often similarities in terms of words, grammar, and other aspects that make it easier to grasp.

What about you?

Pretty sure most of Europeans here know at least 2 languages

    1 and I can't even talk in own language well because I'm dyslexic.ย  ย

I speak German, Greek and English fluently.

(I was in a bilingual school + English is a must)

ย

I also talk Italian, that I learn by my own interest - I'm doing a B2 class rn

I know English and Tagalog fluently (born and raised in the United States but briefly lived in the Philippines in my early childhood, but continued to speak Tagalog in my house). I took Japanese in high school and can understand it a little bit. I want to eventually learn Russian, I don't think Duolingo is enough but I plan to practice with my former students who are from Russia.

I'm italian, I know english very well, I also know french but I'm not fluent, and I studied german for 5 years but I'm far from comfortable with it.

ย

Back when I was still in school I was a lot better at speaking english and I was pretty much fluent in french, sadly as I don't have any more chances to practice languages I feel like I'm slowly forgetting them.

English and Filipino are my mother tongues.

i started learning Japanese when i was 19 and eventually moved there when i was 22 and stayed for 3 years.

i can also understand a bit of Spanish,ย  if that counts.

ย

I speak Danish, German and English. I also took French classes in high school but sadly forgot most of it. ย

i can speak three languages fluently and i've studied three other languages but probably couldn't hold a conversation in them anymore.

if you're italian at least you're not from Tuscany you talk at least another language: your dialect. They're full languages.ย

Spanish and English. I studied French and Arabic for a few years but I can't speak them at all, just a few words here and there.ย

What's the point of speaking multiple languages only English matters lol

I speak Spanish, English and so far I have a B1 in both Portuguese and Hungarian, and I'm still taking classes.

Hopefully Italian and/or Japanese will be next. Arabic too.

Thatโ€™s not true at all. Chinese and Spanish are also two very big languages.ย

ย

OT: I want to learn Italian and maybe Japanese/Koreanย

English and Portuguese (although I can kind of speak spanish too, it's similar to portuguese).

Arabic (original), Hebrew (cause weโ€™re colonized by Zionists) and then English which I acquired all over. ย

Mother tongue - Portuguese

ย

2nd ย - English; growing up with older brother and cousins, I got introduced to American r&b and hip-hop music very young and also by playing RPGs, I would always ask them to translate stuff to me.

I knew English fluently before I even started going to school.ย

ย

3rd - Spanish; learned by watching Doraemon and Ninja Hatori, they were broadcasted in Spanish with Portuguese subtitles. Got more fluent after moving to Spain 4 years agoย

Korean (semi-functional but horrible pronunciation)ย
