Blinding Lights ROSALIA remix: what went wrong?

Featured Replies

two superstars colliding on a mega hit, but it seems to be forgotten now. What went wrong? Why couldn't this emulate Save Your Tears remix success? Discuss.

The Weeknd was at the peak of his overexposed-ness and he got boring. There was nothing wrong with ROSALÍA. No one wanted to check a REMIX of a song they already heard 1000 times. :giraffe:

I love Rosi but this wasn’t good. At all.

Plus, the song was huge already. No need to do this.

It comes down to timing. If I remember correctly, this was released 2 weeks before Christmas. Being released that time of the year, it was never going to stick, although it did serve its purpose with the one-week boost. Had this been released post-Christmas or during the week of the Super Bowl performance, it may have stuck better and maybe brought it back to #1 on the Hot 100. Then again, if the Blinding Lights remix had stuck, who knows if SYT would have still been as successful.

Rosalia's high pitched voice sounded a mess on it. She's just not that kind of girl that can hop on any track and make it sound good.

Timing.

It's the same thing of Despacha with Cardi B, In Your Eyes with Doja Cat

A remix needs to be released during the right timing.

SYT and DFY both were already big (it would be better if the remix were released a little before too) but they were yet to peak, so it was still a "viable" timing.

Blinding Lights not.

I actually loved this remix and really liked her voice on it. But by the time this was released, the song had been smashing for literal months and months. A remix wasn’t necessary and it would never outshine the original at that point.

It wasn't needed at all. That's it, it shouldn't even exist in the first place, there was no point in it + also it's awful

the original was already mega over played and beloved by the Gp.

They don't need a remix.

The colonizer is chart POISON.

Colonizer as in Rosalia? :deadvision: because she is from Spain?

I'd never heard about this until now, and I wished it had stayed that way :skull:

It's a stale drag that holds no weight obviously. They can't come for anything else so they go for that :dies:
