In 2020s, Justin Bieber is more popular and famous for his music than his public image and personal life, ever since Justin Bieber got married and teenage girls are less thirsty over him. Surpass as a pop culture figure? Hell no. Justin Bieber is the biggest pop culture fixture of the 21st century. He is up there with Beyoncé and Rihanna in terms of fame (whether or not thats positive fame or negative fame is a completely different story)

he’s currently more relevant but has he surpassed one of the best selling musicians of all time with over 150 million records sold, 8 #1s, 3 diamond singles, etc.? no. 

The weeknd and Bruno Mars have a real catalog. Bieber just has "compilation of hits album" with whataver kind of music is hot in that moment, it's really a mistery how he lasted so long, it's the typical case of build to be a seasonal popstar. n 30 years people will read the people saying JB is bigger or ore relevant than the weeknd because of some forgettable trendish song strong on instagram stories for 6 months and they will laugh a lot.

in streams and current relevancy, for sure. but JB was a phenomenon, abel still hasn't surpassed justin's fame peak (sadly). imagine walking up to someone, anywhere, asking if they knew bieber and then the weeknd...

Abel has the biggest music career by numbers, Justin is bigger in pop culture and celebrity. 

 

But I'm sure Justin would give up his level of fame too anyway.

1) Justin is white so much more young girls have crushes on him and that turned him into a bigger celebrity

 

2) Justin also reached fame at a younger age which generally makes you a bigger celebrity too

Definitely. The Weeknd's music has just got better with time while Justin's discography stays rotting since Purpose.  Even if Abel made a song like Yummy, it would sound MILES better than...whatever Justin is doing at the moment. Only one of the best male pop artists of our time which is very difficult to get, not everyone has that to their credit  Justin Bieber is still the bigger celebrity though.

Bieber has had a longer career so he is still ahead though The Weeknd  is catching up. Bieber has been sick recently so he is on a break . how successful he is when he comes back could determine who is bigger.
