So it turns out 41 year old ‘flash in the pan 2000’s fad’ Britney Jean Spears just charted at #52 on the Hot 100 for the 19th consecutive week with Elton John on “Hold Me Closer”, four decades into her career after escaping 13 years of literal slavery. Not everybody can do that. 

 

Let’s take a look at what certain ATRLers predicted about the song (I’ll leave their names out to protect their mental health). Did Britney clown them in the end while doing nothing but spinning and taking more holidays than Hilary Duff? Discuss

Are those comments supposed to be shockingly wrong or something? It was frontloaded (spent 1 week in the top 10 before slowly tumbling down the chart) and it is a flop and did terrible on streaming platforms.

Just like Cold Heart, the selling point was the featured artist. Yes, Elton is a legend in his field, but this song came together THANKS to Britney. Not the other way around, don't delude yourself and don't get it twisted love.
