Considering this scandal is spreading out to major news outlets globally, if it does continue to gather steam, some may start thinking about whether to request that she doesn't perform or cancel entirely, to avoid reputational damage. It's in JYP's interest to control this story quickly.

 

Either way, it's not a good look and a scandal that could have been easily avoided with some international media training.

 

In general, Korean companies need to get better at preparing their idols and staff for international promotions, if they want to keep selling to foreign markets successfully.

Oh they can and will, if this story keeps spreading. Especially as JYP hasn't responded to the QAnon issue yet either.

 

A similar issue happened recently with a rock band that got mixed up with antisemitic symbolism. Venues started canceling on them. It's rightly taken seriously.
