Well, it was the 7th single from an album that was already a massive seller. And still, over half a million people in the country left the house to buy a copy. Not everyone has that.

Control is already platinum.

Whats it gonna be must be platinum as well (but i read she doesnt get credit for it?)

Janet was literally the #2 artist of the 1990s decade according to Billboard. Rhythm Nation was Billboard's #1 album of 1990 and janet. was the best selling solo album of 1993 according to Soundscan. All of her singles 1986 to 1998 went Top 10 except 1. In 1995, she became the female artist with the most Gold certified singles. In 1998, she became the female artist with the most consecutive Top 10 hits which she still holds to this day.

 

Her albums were sold and shipped everywhere. And in the case of albums like Control, Rhythm Nation and Design of a Decade, they were available at all the music clubs. Just because a guy calls himself "Chartmaster" doesn't mean he knows how many copies of Rhythm Nation and janet. were bought. The RIAA is the only reliable source for this information and we are patiently waiting from them to update her albums.

 

Anyways I hope you find a way to deal with your obsession with Janet. 

we need ALBUM certifications!!

Chartmasters data sales for Janet's albums higher than their certifications are a lot of guesswork estimates and sources that are nearly a decade old if not more, not to mention his analysis article on Janet is 5 (now nearly 6) years old. Besides the UK, all certifications from other countries outside of the US are possibly outdated too and don't have automatic updates.

 

But fear not OJH, more updated RIAA certifications for Janet are coming soon and you're just going to have to find a way to deal with it. Imagine if her team also starts updating her international certifications too!
