Is Taylor desperate?

Featured Replies

No. Demand vs Quantity.

It’s basic economics.

It’s objectively desperate and tacky, hence why her stans can’t say anything other than “you’re mad!! you wish your fav had the demand ??

She's right, as long as her stans are willing to buy whatever version she puts out, she should release 1k versions instead.

Even if you combine every copy from that pic, that doesn't touch midnight's 73 versions. :deadbanana4:

If you add merch(30-73 is all merch), list each variant (vinyl, CD version) for each cover and seperate each as clean and explicit, Chromatica easily reach "73 versions" too.

And only one of them will debut over 300k (without bundles).

With all these variants being desperately SOLD, shall we expect her streaming numbers to tank then?

the wild thing is at least she’s selling them albums. y’all faves be having 50 versions and still doing 170k first week :rip:

The stans of girls who are only as good as their latest TTH Residency talking about desperation :rip:

For the millionth time, Taylor is not employing any tactics that her peers don’t also do. In fact - 30, Sour, Positions, Harry’s House and even Future Nostalgia (+more) had more variants and schemes than Midnights. The only difference is that they were lazy and only did disc variants, whereas Taylor actually puts effort into her variants and gives fans the option to collect them all, or pick which has their favorite aesthetic. It’s literally no different than brands offering a variety of their products so that there’s something for everyone. Do you get mad when you walk into Walmart and see all the million variants of your favorite junk food?

It’s not her fault your faves are lazy with their tactics and also just can’t sell, seeing as even with these tactics you could combine all of their first week sales and they wouldn’t amount to what Midnights will sell. Cope.

I know this may not relate to the thread but Folklore is SO much better than Evermore.

Like WAY better.

I don’t see why promoting and marketing your work is considered “desperate”, especially when the demand is there.

I respect her grind, as annoying as it is sometimes. I’d rather her do what she does than she do what has become the norm now, for artists to drop their albums and then dip, which is not only disappointing and not immersive for fans , but plain boring and anti-climatic. I miss the days when everyone was promoting and whoring out their music.

Why blame someone for trying? I feel like online fans reward doing nothing as a badge of honor if the album does well regardless and has made promoting too much seem desperate, which is just so nonsensical.  Promotion used to be a big part of what made past eras “eras” as we knew them.

!!!!

I was coming here to post the same.

I would never feel less respect for someone to give their all. She made that music, she's proud of it, she wants to be successful, she cares A LOT and is hungry. That IS a good thing.

She has always been like that, she had partner with pizza to maximize her sales. She cares about her art. It might look desperate and is sometimes annoying (Willow) but at the end, no one will remember anything but the numbers and not how they were achieved.

Right? It’s so weird that publicly caring about your success, reputation, legacy, and achievements is some sort of “gotcha” in modern culture. As if complete apathy is somehow equivalent to humility. Like, she is literally doing her actual job by fulfilling demand with whatever “versions” she lists. It’s not even her most of the time, most likely, it’s a marketing department specifically tasked with extracting money from willing buyers.

While we're on the topic, are we also going to talk about Dua's Future Nostalgia (The moonlight edition) and give the same amount of energy?

I keep hearing this narrative even outside of ATRL. She wouldn’t do this if her fans didn’t buy it. So why does it matter? No one’s forced to buy them. she’s not desperate she just knows her fans want to buy her product, so she has a lot of merch to match that.

Spoiler

We all know she’s gonna have the biggest opening this year unless Rihanna drops, vinyls or no.

Her having a wide selection isn’t exactly desperate but her ulterior motive to capitalize is tacky.

Gonna be interesting to see what her numbers will be now that bundled albums don’t count :fan:

I'm sure it will be. Be sure to make an appearance at the HDD thread

You’re right! It certainly will be interesting, at least for the fans. For OTHs like you, it might be a bit more upsetting than interesting
