willmcclure9 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Bunny > Billions > Sunset Sunset is cute though

Solgayleo Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 The production feels like music from Mario Kart, but I like it. Bunny is still her best song post-Pang, but she is incapable of making a bad song
Akhetamen Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I'm reading way too many comments about when she should have released this, or what order, the span between songs, or what should have happened after Pang, etc etc etc... I know these are just opinions, but it's so wild to me whenever I dive into social media comments or these forums and find people who think they would have done something better than the artist itself, or made better decisions... I think the line between consumer and spectator has become a thin veil and it seems everyone is self-entitled to artistry. Caroline's been creating music since 2006 and had never followed a strict or pre-formatted release schedule. Pang came out of nowhere cause it wasn't teased and she only set it up for release once she was 100% certain it was done (not only music but album imagery and visuals). As part of Chairlift, after being signed to Columbia due to the "success" of Bruises, both her and Patrick did feel the pressure of having to deal with imposed releases and she doesn't operate like that. That's why Caroline is constantly collaborating with many different artists, not only sonically but visually, and has so many side-projects and is a bit unpredictable. Also the fact she doesn't have a creative director or team ensures her to be able to deliver what message she feels like, in the way she intends to and at the pace she finds suitable. This project is different cause she's touring while creating, and releasing music that isn't predetermined for a specific body of work. It's very dynamic and organic, and I shall say even nomadic. Trust the artist, trust their vision. If not, I'm sure there's a **** ton of other artists to follow. Back on topic, this is what she said when she stealth debuted the song in BBC Radio 1: Quote "Resolution is so rare in life, but music is unnaturally full of it. A sunset is the biggest pop cliche ever, because it’s a perfect resolution. I'm very excited to be presenting my new song to you today, song is called Sunset, and it's actually been in my live show for the last year, mostly because I couldn't resist playing it even though the studio version was still being worked on the background. This is my first collab with a dear friend of mine, and incredible artist, Sega Bodega, and I also owe this one in big part to Ennio Morricone, who had passed away a few months prior to writing it, I had been listening to his music a lot, and thinking about this kind of epic folkloric tone of his work... The folkloric, epic tone of the spaghetti western sunset played on my mind. But also, while writing the lyrics for this one, I was really drawn to the kind of classic, western cliche of riding into the sunset. And for me, the kind of personal meaning that took on was, the idea of seeing through all the destruction and dead ends of life, and having kind of clear eyes, and fresh priorities, on the love and care that's closest at hand to you in your own life. I wanted an operatic chorus with no lyrics, but salted with some very real disillusionment: past all the distraction, dead ends, and false promises of the world is the love we too often take for granted. That’s my sunset. "
Dragonfly Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 this is honestly in my top 5 songs of the year already

Not everything is a commentary on society

Roger Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Amazing song. Bunny, Billions and Sunset have been stellar, all of them so different yet so grandiose.

I love everything she’s done post pang, but I do wish she had released an ep with this, bunny and billions on it back in like, June. And I hope the album will get timely singles, videos etc anyway this song is great! I’m shook that sega bodega produced this cause I kind of hate his stuff
unino Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 she's everything. at this point she's going to go down as one of the most underrated pop girl ever. 37 and is getting better every ******* time! her works' always well-crafted in every aspect. but i have to say that i enjoy her with the full album experience more than these every 7-8 months single thing.
GentleDance Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 OT: lovely sing, can't wait for the album
