i just saw this picture on my timeline and i was suprised . How is WAP only doing 389k daily? i thought this song was iconic, i love cardi so much btw its not a shady thread.

For example Selena's "frontloaded" hit LYTLM is doing 449k daily :O. Why is WAP's daily streams are low?

Also random but where is Savage on this list??

Rap songs generally don't do well on Spotify, they are doing much better on AM

And it's not the type of song you would put on repeat. But it will remain iconic and everybody will remember it

I’m surprised sweetest pie is still doing so well but I assume its biggest dua is huge on Spotify. I would say it’s somewhat forgotten only because a hit that big should be getting more streams but it also relied heavily on shock value so that might have something to do with it. Could be doing worst:fishing:

It has a billion streams.. it did really well on Spotify what

WAP was a meme.

It's not "forgotten" just yet, but it's certainly not going to be of any cultural relevance or reference in rap, 3-5 years from now.

Shock value and novelty wears off and other than the fire sample, there's nothing there to really sustain it.

It kind of is.... it was huge in 2020 but I feel there are other bigger hits of 2020 also doing better numbers

It's not completely forgotten but let's be serious who is actually listening to that in 2022? It's the definition of a meme song which are notoriously left in the year of its release (What Does the Fox Say, Harlem Shake, Roxanne, TUN, etc).

you didnt lie, daddy

Yeah it's forgotten, like others pointed out it was a meme and TikTok trend song, like there's no reason to play it right now.

yes the song itself feels forgotten imo (forgot the last time i listened to it :rip:)

but the word "WAP" is still iconic and remembered whether it's attached to the song or not

It's not forgotten, I'm sure people that were around in 2020 remember the song and all the discourse surrounding the MV. :toofunny3:

WAP simply isn't a timeless song, it feels very much of it's time, so unless you're in the context of remembering that time, you're probably not going to blast it at a party or in your car.

Music listeners like to play safe, so  controversial hits with larger-than-life moments in pop culture sometimes have that fate. It becomes heavily associated with that one moment.

some songs that have huge peaks just fade out rather quickly, for example OTR, that song was HUGE in 2019 and yet absolutely no one talks about it in 2022

398K? Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t Super Bass and Starships receive a very similar amount of daily streams on Spotify? :ohwow:

Actual classics vs forgotten viral song :cm:
