Today we can safely say...4th generation leader MEANS aespa

The way people were running to call sajaegi and fake when SM never really lies with these pre-order announcements (at least for GGs). RV actually sold more than their 516k announced pre-orders

 

aespa is probably coming for 1.5M sales at least with this mini, considering Girls is not released until July. They cleared the other girlies I fear

The moment SM utilizes sales tactics for their girlgroups (multi vers, exclusive versions etc), the sales go up big time

 

RV should have sold way more albums if they did so earlier

OT: aespa selling 1M is not surprising, they have a big fanbase and their previous mini sold over 600k+. they have multiple hits to their name as well

Girl groups are more profitable overall, methinks, and don't cannibalise each other as much. There's only room for 1 BTS, but you can have many girl groups thriving at the same time on the charts

The bg stans must be SHAKING now that the ggs are selling as much albums as their oppas while scoring hits and CFs

The fact aespa is doing this with zero album info released other than the tracklist. Truly a clearing.

 

RV would have sold more I agree, but SM only gave them 3 weeks of pre-order, not over 1 month like aespa. 

The fact they are both girl groups that can snatch hits AND sell albums

 

i wonder when a BG comes that will break the curse

I have a feeling SMNBG might  they should create a BP-esque SHINee group with 4/5 visual members and a more poppy sound

It seems that first year of a Kpop girl group is really the deciding factor for how the rest of their career will be. Crazy, if you snatch smashes and better yet a national hit that soon everything else is set in stone.

Yeah this one ain't passing the smell test. Having two big hits doesn't necessarily mean you'll sell a million copies in the next comeback. Plenty of girl groups have had hits - WORLD hits and that kind of album sale increase didn't happen.

 

Not to mention aespa's hits are mostly local. Korea loved them, but worldwide their spotify numbers aren't holding up (I'm not sure how illusion is doing though).

 

We've seen companies mediaplay about X album sales pre-order and then go radio silent when the actual numbers come out and fail to reach that initial hype. It's the game and people believe it every time  If NMIXX's numbers can be called into question then aespa's can. And especially boy groups who discount their album/single prices for numbers. They're just getting more and more ridiculous for the sake of competition. 

 

Still I can't wait for the next episode of Navis Fix My Life!  

 

 

And another note, where is BP and why have they given up on music?

It's so funny to me. I mean Karina bar alone bought 100,000+ copies and that's just one fan bar from 1 country. Ningning and Winter fan bars in China also bought a lot. 

 

Once again, it seems to be one rule for aespa and another for everyone else.
