One of the prerequisites for being Korea's it-girl is not having a scandal regarding her character, something Karina already has by the chock-full :rip:

If you're talking about her calling some boygroup members ugly in private messages to her friends, that's having an opinion.

She was a known ulzzang for years and was friendly/kind to all her followers. Her schoolmates and teacher came out to dispel her bullying rumors with proof so try again.

Naurrr some quotes from Karina fans :toofunny3:.

The 4th gen is really shaping to be a 2nd gen remake for the gg, truly the new Suzy and Yoona of their generation.

she is my second favourite member but how can karin/a be the IT girl of 4th gen when she is not even the it girl of her own group

I mean, the Korean entertainment industry is all about image. The fact that she was implicated in something like that, rumor or not, is a huge hit to her personal brand. Being an "it-girl" is much more than being a popular celebrity, it's about being marketable to a whole nation. So that little blemish on her image will surely follow her around and likely prevent her from monumental gigs (at least monumental for Korea), like being a model for soju, fried chicken etc.

No one cares but the boygroup stans who's faves she insulted but sure. :rip: The rumors about her bullying were disproved like Jennie's because they were untrue so it's meaningless now.

Yeah it's so annoying and weird, cause they don't have the same energy with western artists. We as international stans should show netizens, the other side of fandoms, where we don't put them on such a high pedestal, and make the idols feel more comfortable to be themselves and treat them like we treat western artists. It's like western kpop stans are going backwards when it comes to kpop. We should inspire netizens on how to stan famous people, where they can have way more freedom to do what they like such as dating and not being this controlled by the industry. Like we should help breaking the barriers and not make it worse.

1) How exactly are we supposed to approach someone potentially bullying disabled classmates to the point of having a restraining order be placed on them?

2) I have seen a lot of international stans absolutely carrying the same energy for western artists as they do for korean artists. For an example that I think could be equivalent to Garam's case (since I can't think of any US/UK celeb who has a stan following and who was accused of bullying disabled people): Camilla Cabello was accused of bullying Normani, with this bullying involving the use of racial slurs against her. Between that and her old tumblr blog on which she reblogged several racist posts on, she still gets called racist every single day, with her most known nickname being KKKamilla (please don't warn me for this, I'm just using it as an example). International fans who don't have the same energy for western artists probably don't follow western artists the same way they do kpop artists.

3) I agree with pretty much everything else such as idols being allowed date whoever they want, having more freedom to be themselves, and whatnot, but again, the current debate is about someone potentially bullying a disabled classmate, and it is worth mentioning that in a lot of the cases bullying in Korea always tends to be quite severe if not downright violent. I don't think anyone in this world should be allowed off easy (keep in mind that I'm not saying they should never be forgiven) for bullying someone who's part of any marginalized groups since the victim has to carry and live with any trauma they got from that period of time with them for a long time, if not for the rest of their lives.

As it stands for now, nothings been proved on either side and you do make very valid points, just maybe not under the most right circumstances :priceless:

Well tell that to her fans. But I think that her Chinese fanbase is bigger than Winter.

And clearly SM have made their choice, since she’s the only one getting solo cfs :coffee2:

I feel like KPOP fans confuse being a visual with being an IT girl like... :skull:

For aespa Karina is the visual of the group but Winter is more trendy rn and is the IT girl (arguably)

koria already made their choice, time will tell :gaycat5: although i’d prefer karina being the most popular member instead of winter nnnn

Agree  especially since you kind of need to be popular in order to get some cfs deal.

We will see if Winter pull a Jennie/ Hwasa and get the most cfs but for now only Karina is having solo cfs

Of course time will tell but for now, it seems like only Karina is getting the solo cfs. I guess Winter will get some ost in the future for compensation, when she could have both.

Karina's pre-debut "scandal" was debunked and articles keep coming out showing that it was fake (I believe there was a long thread on Pann about it recently this year even).

Jennie had past scandals/allegations of bullying, racist slurs etc. and it didn't stop her becoming an it girl in Korea.

As long as SM manages Karina's image well by getting her the right deals, she will be fine. Same with Winter.

I'm just saying, as things are now, it's unlikely that Karina will be given the opportunity to reach the same heights as, say, Yoona or Suzy.
She's more than capable of it, because she's gorgeous, but there are plenty of beautiful idols nowadays that brands could work with, and most of them have never had a scandal regarding their past and character. This is why agencies do a thorough, CIA-like background checks on their trainees :rip:

We have big cases like Tara where everything was a lie and Korea has learned nothing it seems.

Once again the whole T-ara case is bigger than what it is.

Between the public seeing image out of context. Hwayoung not saying anything, the other girls talking too much on Twitter, the CEO keeping his mouth shut because he was being investigated for embezzlement.

I just know whoever is behind this profile is someone Garam would call a fat loser and would bully them out of the Korean school system:rip:

Like, you just know most of these idols think these kpop fans, especially western ones, are gross weirdos.

Not Karina getting a cf before winter when she has the most viewed 4th gen fancam, highest on BR, and Naver search than Karina. She’s the only who can rival Wonyoung. :gaycat6:

Right. IMO Hybe and Soumu are trying to do the things a little different, i remember Cube and JYP gave an statement right away about the innocence of their idols, but people chose to not believe it.

Maybe they want to wait until the investigation is done to do something.

Anyway i think we have to wait more weeks before this gets solved.

Source Music already issued a statement saying Garam was completely innocent, that she was the one actually being bullied, and they were prepared to sue all accusers. They haven't handled this well at all :rip:

Since we're dealing with an iljin gang situation here, I guess a case could be made that she was getting bullied to bully people.  But that defense wouldn't hold up in a war tribunal.

:cm:

Karina doesn't have the personality to back it up

she's kind of mundane

People think Brave Girls had some hit songs within the military service sector, but they just don't know.

And they still won't know.

:cm:

As I said before, PSY is serving lazy and cheap with the music. He should have put that Gagnam Style revenue from YouTube to pay for some songwriters/producers. (and it's funny cuz the music video is serving some production value so money didn't seem to have been the problem) There's no shame even for a "selfproducing" group to start initially by having people more experienced than them to help with the creation of the songs. The whole mini is giving garage band, music school project instead of quality.

I checked two line distributions for this songs and in both the main vocal (Jukhyeon) is having double the lines of 4 out of the other 5 members:gaycat2::clap3:

It's also a kii that no mather the song he almost always gets to sing the chorus, even if it's just random spoken words :deadvision: Him and Taehun have my fav vocals in the group so far, but all of them seem talented.
