This is lowkey where Normani's career went downhill. She should have just went pop or found someone better to feature like the weeknd or something. Someone with an untouchable spotify playlisting track record. If Wild Side went top 10 on billboard, an album would have had to come out then and all the other pieces would have fell into place.  :coffee2:

  • I love how after years of disappointments and lies some fans still get angry at someone questioning this girl's career choices   and please stop pushing this "you want her to do generic pop

I disagree; the acclaim Wildside received supersedes what went wrong. I personally think what was her setback is that long ass wait after it dropped and no performances to follow.

then the radio silence for a year after and no signs of releasing is what dealt her career the hardest blow.

Girl, I'm just trying to get the thread moving. I don't even agree with what I typed. :coffee2:

Anyone got tea from that Normani and Lydia interview? The tidbits I saw, it's crazy to see Normani talk highly of Lydia when Lydia lowkey did nothing for her any other manager couldn't have. Less than 10 bookings this year is ridiculous. No deluxe or even attempting to generate the hype for one using tiktok is ridiculous as well.

I'm pissed that Revolt captured basically nothing but the same talking points we've heard for years. I guess nothing juicy/new was talked about in the interview.

TBH, Normani's career went downhill when her Keep Cool label head Tunji turned down Dua Lipa's "If It Ain't Me", the Chainsmokers collab, and that Anne-Marie collab. All 3 would have kept her on pop radio BOTH in the US and UK after "Motivation", "Love Lies", and "Dancing With A Stranger" set her up well.

I get that he wanted her to be seen as an R&B artist, but that ruined her momentum, and no one said she couldn't do some Urban collabs simultaneously. "Wild Side" would have been a Top 10 debut with the built-up pop radio relationship from those collabs. :michael:

Huge misstep for real. Her features should have stayed pop. You always want to keep those doors open.

I also said this; the obsession with being seen as an R&B artist has definitely pushed her back. Then when she does do R&B it's slow and same thing goes for  pop. I think she should just do pop and have some R&B tinged tracks on her next album.

Nah, it went downhill because of inconsistency, poor single choice, and lack of talking to fans. Despite not promoting the song like she should, Wild Side was a hit. She decided to go silent for months until was time for Fair. I like Fair. The issue is that it wasn't single worthy. She should've released a visual and kept promoting the song. It is amazing how I saw Flo Milli and Rae Levyn have songs that were on Bubbling Under Hot 100 like Fair and ended up in the top 10. They kept promoting and got people to notice the song. What does Normani and her team do? They just give up and go radio silent.

Fast forward to June 2023. Bose releases that Candy Paint video. It got people hype for her return. Yet, nothing happens. Silence for months again. Feb 2024 she releases her album title and cover. Then it was silence for a month only to reveal 1:59 will be dropping a month later. Wtf? Then, 1:59 comes with NO video again. Then back to silence. Then Candy Paint surprise drops on her birthday and silence until the album. The album comes with basically nothing. No visuals or physicals. Fans are just tired of being in the dark and being served false promises.

I don't think Normani should've stuck to pop. She wouldn't have been happy as it would be just like 5H with having no control over the music she wants to do. Wild Side and her album showcase she could have R&B hits if she would have just shown some consistency and promoted her music.

Speaking of Fair, is the music video for it still coming out?

What do you think? :deadbanana4:

I think it would've been different though. Just look at P!nk's career. She started out as R&B but then moved to her actual passion which was Punk-Rock. Now; was she happy with making her debut? No; most likely not but it was necessary to get her name out there and to get an audience. You have to prove the product you are selling is actually worth investing in. Just saying releasing more music like Motivation would've given her a name and would've persuaded the label in invest more and allow her to experiment with her sound.

I'm still hoping for her to drop a longer snippet on IG. I really want to know what the song actually sounds like.

Ive been playing that tiny snippet over and over; I hope it lives up to what I'm hyping it to be.

As I've said, My guess is that it's a HARV produced song. I was listening to Mariah's new song (also by HARV), and it makes me think we're in an era of simple instrumental but strong emphasis on crisp and ear-pleasing vocals.

On a random note, I listen to K-Pop but it doesn't seem like their world does the beautiful vocal stacking, layers, and ad libs like Mani's music has. Their music world doesn't care about that, which I find odd, since I think the use of the voice like this is one of the best parts of music.

Empowher Festival literally in 10-ish days and... nothing from the organiser. We can't even get a performance :(

She didn't even acknowledge 4 years of Wild Side

:rip: I think the era is well and truly over. Now that her personal life is thriving, I don't think she's hungry anymore to be a huge star.

Yeah I get the vibe she just wants to be a football wife and doesn't care about anything else. That's so sad cause what if the relationship falls apart? Then you have nothing as a back up.

Even Ciara is working hard and does the absolute most in multiple areas and bookings. Normani still talking about Fifth Harmony stuff and Motivation in interviews and seminars like girl…:deadbanana4:

I'm shocked this is how she wants to sleep on her own talent. :deadbanana4:

I kinda get why she wants to do that but if that is the case she needs to stop with all these false promises and be more transparent

:rip: She's the new Rihanna with the way she talks about these nonexistent visuals. I actually dont believe that, outside of the Dopamine promotional trailer, other things were filmed.

I just can't wrap my mind around her going on several talk shows and lying about music videos. Why? :rip:

YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO GRIEVE. Let us cope in our own way :dancehall3:

side note: wildside is going a lil viral on tiktok. Sean bankhead made a video talking about it cause it was that many new videos being made lol

yeah—

I sort of knew when she literally would be featured on songs and literally have hella chances to promote only to post a picture of herself and say "run it up"; that we weren't getting anymore music.

I think whatever it was with Brandon sucked all her ambition as an artist right out of her.

Let's just hope her fiancé has a long prosperous career and wish her the best.

I think she still may be performing at Empowher but I'm leaning towards that event being cancelled.

Also just a side note; has anyone noticed that Tantrums rose dramatically on her Apple music Top Songs chart?

If only she released the damn track as a single. I'm telling you I got a good ear for music and that song has hit written all over it.
