Yeah Columbia's going to push Halsey hard on the 23rd, Warner's going to push Dua hard on the 16th, Usher's going to be pushed hard by RCA/Sony on the 9th because of the Super Bowl (he's releasing an album that day), and the 2nd isn't happening. Unless her team/Interscope have a death wish (which wouldn't shock me at this point ) I'm thinking March 1st or later. And I'm honestly okay with that; I'd rather have a week where she can shine by herself if it means waiting a little while longer.

Halsey's highest solo debut is Nightmare at #15 and that was directly following Without Me smashing. Now, she has even less hype. Her last album didn't do anything chart-wise (even though it's good ). She's not competition.

 

What's next? The single has to be delayed cause of Nelly Furtado's comeback? Gaga can't be no ***** waiting around for the perfect release week, especially with the single. The album is more understandable cause they'll want that #1.

When it comes to which major labels are the best at streaming playlisting and radio deals, Interscope is among the weakest. Prior to Miley signing to Columbia in March of 2021, she hadn't seen the top 10 of the Hot 100 since 2017. What happens when she signs over to them? She gets her first top 10 since 2017 with a Without You (Kid Laroi) remix that same year, Flowers smashes, and she gets another top 10 afterward with Used to Be Young. They push their artists hard. They give them a major radio push and keep them at the top of every playlist they need to be at for weeks, sometimes months. They don't **** around with autoplay either (which I haven't seen Interscope do once). Warner is the same way. Republic is also very good at this. And even Capitol seems to have gotten the TikTok game down, but that doesn't really matter with the whole UMG thing (they're a UMG label). Interscope is good at vinyl variants and updating certs, but they don't really do radio pushes the way other labels do (remember that RS article a few years back that all but confirmed that?). Lady Gaga is obviously a bigger star than Halsey, but I'd rather her release when another label isn't pushing another artist harder, because Interscope will alway play second fiddle in that regard. Despite the fact that they were both very successful, I feel like Billie and Olivia's latest album campaigns were kneecapped by a rollout that could've been stronger. What do they both have in common? They're on Interscope. 

 

Not to mention that any label under Sony (Columbia, RCA, ect.) or Warner (Warner, Atlantic) still has their artists' catalogues on TikTok. That UMG move was so damn stupid, and I really hope they come to their senses before Gar releases (or at least negotiate a better deal).
