They do it for Miss Lipa, so why not a guaranteed return on investment aka TABS?  This argument does not make sense for massively successful artists.

This tour could have easily had 40-something dates. The problem is Gaga's health. You could have easily added second dates to 6-7 cities of the CB slate, and another Tokyo date and that's without even adding other countries or areas she hasn't visited in ages.

Gaga probably made more money for Interscope and LiveNation with the Chromatica Ball than the entirety of FN, not to mention Gaga usually self-funds her videos, looks, and she owns her own studio l to record in.  Producers will work with her as a favor.  There’s no reason to not fund a proper era for a successful established artist just because they’re not new.  The demand is there, the ROI is solid, and she’s usually reliable.  

The Chromatica Ball definitely should have had more dates, but there's kind of no way they could do many more past when it ended because she had to have some time to rest and then prepare for the Harley role. Perhaps they could have started it earlier than what they did to fit in more dates, but maybe they were planning to extend it past September and then had to cancel those plans once her Harley role was confirmed. Or maybe they just kept the tour short to ensure she could complete it with her health conditions. Who knows?

Yeah, I like Dua and all and Future Nostalgia was significantly bigger than Chromatica in every way other than the tour...but I have to wonder if Chromatica as a whole was comparably if not more profitable for the label than Future Nostalgia since the latter had so much more investment poured into it. Makes you wonder what a Gaga era in the 2020s would do with that level of investment and dedication from all parties involved.

Chromatica had a decent push. The music just didn’t connect with the GP.

This. It doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just didn’t have many potential hits. People say making Alice or Replay the lead would have been better than SL, and maybe from a quality standpoint it would, but I genuinely don’t think they would have been much bigger if at all. Free Woman is a bit radio friendly I guess, but it wouldn’t have pulled numbers either.

 

Other than ROM, the only other potential hit was Sour Candy. They could’ve pushed it as a single with a video, and it would probably have similar total streams to ROM. That means the album would have 3b on Spotify and 5-6m units by now. That’s the maximum the album was set out to do. I really don’t think having more performances would’ve helped much. The push would be for like two weeks max. Besides we already had one album medley at the VMAs so honestly between that and three music videos, and a tour, what we got from the era is perfectly fine for a veteran pop star in the streaming climate. She’s not supposed to be hustling like Dua, she did that in 2009-2013. Now she’s made a name for herself.

These are the songs that needed to be reworked or scrapped :

1. Free Woman ( we all loved it at first but it's generic af and lost its magic real quick due to the horrible BloodPop's try- hard production. 

2. Stupid Love ( no explanation needed) 

3. Fun tonight ( cringe) 

4. 1000 Doves ( cringe, the piano version is slightly better) 

5. Sine From Above ( a mess, only enjoyable when drunk / high) 

These tracks drag the quality down a lot. 

CHROMATICA needed a perfect solo lead single.

I like Chroma, but these songs are all not quite up to GÁR’s standards. I’m kinda hoping LG7 is a 10-13 track album, since her longer albums tend to have a few duds. 

Alice is okay but it's meh compared to normal tracks from TFM, BTW, and even ARTPOP. 

Bloody Mary stomps on it just to give an example.

Chromatica definitely had the best push of any Gaga album in the streaming era, but the difference between it and the push Future Nostalgia got for example is that unlike Interscope, Warner didn't give up at the first signs of underperformance, to the point that it felt like they were shoving Dua down people's throats all of 2020-2021 and to this day whenever she releases something. On the flip end, Interscope is notorious for pulling the plug on songs if they debut with low or mid radio callouts for example.  Future Nostalgia was doing better and so deserved the harder push of course, but my point is Interscope definitely could persisted with the back end promo instead of just dropping it once a song started stalling or dropping slightly.

That’s what I’m saying.  Gaga is a very… financially secure investment.  She self-funds a lot of her own work, she doesn’t need to rent a studio, her friends are also her producers and co-writers, she always has at least one major hit with each album, a successful album rollout, and very profitable tours.  She’s also just extremely famous, like it makes zero sense to say Dua Lipa (who I love) is a notably better financial investment than Lady Gaga at this point.  

Joanne (piano version) is such a beautiful song. The way that it is just a simple piano arrangement and her vocals (she only did one take) is Incredible. No other mainstream artist does it like her.
