I think back then youtube was the only place people could "stream" music. So it was never just about the music videos themselves. All the new streaming platforms made the overall views collapse.

 

There are a few exceptions, though. Mega monster smashes like Flowers, As It Was and a couple of The Weeknd songs have great views.

The same thing happened with the previous film because WB released a teaser at comic con july 2015 (when they were still filming) and the movie was released in August 2016.

 

Thankfully WB has learned not to do long promo campaigns like that. Most of their big releases are within the industry standard of 6-7 months.

I think it's because before streaming really took over a lot of the GP would use YT to just listen to songs which drove a lot of their views to be really high. Now they just stream them on Spotify. Asian and Latin artists still pull big numbers because visuals tend to still be a big part of their brands and a lot of Western artists have just stopped putting as much effort into visuals or not even releasing them at all

 

Genuine question: Were the guitarists on TCB even playing anything for the majority of the show? Same with the pianist. Only instrument I hear are the drums.

Yes. They are always playing at her shows. Listen to any arrangements, its all heavy metal oriented.
