It's sad that we probably won't get a new album from her when she's one of the very few legacy acts who can pull out an actual good record past their prime, but I've made peace with that. I just hope new artists keep mentioning her as an inspiration to keep her legacy alive.

All For You is the only era of her career to go viral with the younger generation so naturally instead of reissuing the album they just slapped together an instagram reel and called it a day.

From 1986 to 2001, she released five full-length albums — each of which topped the Billboard 200, each of which generated at least one No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, each of which helped to define their era in pop, R&B and culture in general, and each of which proved enormously impactful on pop stardom, both in real time and for generations to come. And perhaps most impressively: Each of those album eras felt completely separate from the ones before or after, reframing Jackson's artistry and shaping her legacy in a totally new way.

In honor of the pop icon, R&B legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's upcoming 60th birthday (May 16), we're celebrating a first on the Greatest Pop Stars podcast: A full week of Vintage Pop Stardom flashbacks to each of these peak Janet Jackson album eras. Janet has just surpassed her all-time record for monthly listeners on Spotify. It was a bigger increase than the previous day, too. She may surpass 10M for the first time tomorrow or Thursday.

Yes, her entire discography is surging (not only Scream). She has had multiple songs reach new daily peaks, a record 27 songs with 10k+ daily streams each, and three songs with 70%+ popularity for the first time.

A new peak of 9,960,456 (+94,243) monthly listeners today. Hopefully she will cross 10M tomorrow.

The catalog bump isn't nearly on the level of the one her older brother's discography is currently enjoying, of course. But for the week ending May 7, Janet amassed over 9.4 million official on-demand U.S. streams — easily her best weekly total for 2026, and a 31% gain from the 6.9 million streams she totaled two weeks earlier (Apr. 17-23), according to Luminate.

A healthy chunk of that is attributable to the increased streaming presence for "Scream," the lone song co-credited to the two superstar Jacksons — which amassed nearly 1.2 million plays on its own in the most recent tracking week. But even removing that MJ duet from the equation, Janet's catalog is still up a full 20% in streams from two weeks earlier, a difference of nearly 1.4 million streams.

She continues to grow on Spotify: 10,155,955 monthly listeners today. Back to 100k+ gains!

She just wrapped up a her 4 date concert tour in Japan. All shows looked like sold out/packed. Will be interesting to see the tour gross. Tickets were definitely more expensuve that her last TA tour in Japan.

Im really enjoying her new DRM remix. Janet should pull an Elton and remix her old songs in new ways. especially if she doesn't want to release a new album ever again. Probably a lot cheaper to do as well.

Well, the album track isn't there yet, so the point still stands in a way. I didn't realize there was a single version. Makes sense. Still, it'll look good on her page when it officially passes 200m. I am sick of people trying it with Ms Jackson.

I agree. Most artists merge their single and album versions for stream counts, which is why I wanted to note this discrepancy. This is another example of her team not doing their job to help her catalogue.
