Yeah I'd want the album a bit before Coachella so she can possibly throw in a few album tracks without it being crickets.

I'm pretty sure she'll release the new single this year with the original RO rollout plan.. It was a pretty good plan that was unfortunately cancelled by the circumstances. We will see tho. She visited a NYC radio station last week as well which made my suspicions grow even further..

The FN rollout worked cause she was a literal nobody in the US so giving the singles (well literally just DSN) time to grow there worked. Didn't someone on her team literally say they 'learned' from the big gap between Houdini and RO and were gonna have a more concise era this time?

She needs to make the time between and album no more than 3 months and if those 3 months are exactly during the Christmas freeze then bye bye era

and singles really don't "grow" anymore like they did… radio has died so much since 2019

now the christmas freeze is just so damaging during the streaming era

Nah-uh. No new single this year. I'd rather wait a bit more. Releasing songs in Q4 is almost never a good idea.

The only way she releases a new single this year is if it's a Christmas song and we don't want that. January 2027 is perfect to launch the new era.

I still think and I echo what others mentioned before that Dua should begin everything early next year.

This part is interesting to be honest. However, it could be related to "Training Season" too. I mean, her team may want some promo in the meantime, so any radio airplay the track it could have there (even as a recurrent) may help whatsoever.

I think it's actually about the original roll out for Training Season in 2023. That they scrapped the single, the EMAs were cancelled, and pivoted to Houdini due to the October 7th attack.

Don't labels and artists go to radio stations to play them songs and the radio's actually tell them which they think they will support the most?

Maybe she played them the lead or options for the lead to test the waters

This is the first time I hear about this, so I'm not entirely sure how it's the procedure honestly. However, Warner has their own radio team, so I don't think it's necessary that Dua should go personally to a radio station to ask for feedback when this could be done through the radio team, unless she wanted to hear that by herself.

I know for a fact thst few months ago their plan was to release the new single this year and I personally don't think that's a good idea but whatever.. Hopefully they made another (read: better) plan. Also I feel like the radio visit is new music related.

Still can't believe her team posted Training Season's snippet on Jan 22, officially announced as 2nd single on Feb 3, performed on Feb 7 during grammys and then went ahead to release it on 16th Feb. Her team really snubbed the entire era's momentum…

In her latest photo dump, she was with Charm and another choreographer. I still don't think the single is coming this year but idk I feel like something is happening soon. Maybe I'm just starved for new content.

Releasing this year now is a brain dead strategy.

1) It's already October next week, and as I've pointed out ( to some derision but hey ho can take it) she's committed (as a curator no less) to the London literary festival for about the last ten days of October, so that pretty much torpedos any world wide promo in person for a couple of weeks.

2) I stumbled across my first Xmas station in the car the other day (!!!!!). So Mariah, bells, and rancid reindeers will be sliding into view as soon as November hits with all the other tinsel tinged hell ( except the Pogues and Kirsty McColl of course 😉), before you know it, sweeping anything standing before them till Dec 26th.

3) It failed last time ( see 2 above and other reasons).

I agree but she's literally only doing 1 weekend of that literary festival (the 24th and 25th)

Yeah lol I think it's 3-4 days only? I don't want her to release a single this year because I'm sure it'll suffer and be hampered by the Christmas songs but the Literary Festival wouldn't be an issue imo. One of the bigger issues faced during 2023 was trying to promote Houdini but much of the focus was put into Dance the Night's awards campaign push.

Y'all have to understand that they had like 1 month to come up with everything related to promotion for Houdini. Their whole plan changed because of the circumstances. They had everything planned out for Training Season and then they had weeks to come up and change it all up again. That's the main reason for the single flopping. Good song CAN survive the Xmas/New Years with good promo like Don't Start Now.

No it can't and she needs to release in January. I don't get how this is still a point of discussion.

I think Dua's strong suit is performing and showing what she got. Whether TS or Houdini was the single, performances most likely were set. And there weren't any. So in that month they had to come up with things like the Google skits. But that's not promo that makes you want to listen a song.

Houdini showed more potential after the Grammy's because of the dancebreak than when it did at release time, but by that time they were gearing up TS already.

DSN worked because she was everywhere performing EMAs, late night shows, The Voice, Aria awards, you name it and she was most likely there.

Oppertunities like that are more slim like that after the pandemic. And I don't see her going back to her 2019 scedule. So would a 2026 single release make sense?

I mean I get that for some things but if she had other performances lined up for Training Season before the switch, those performances still could have taken place for Houdini. They had a routine, as seen by the video. But what really does sell her music are her performances and not having anything lined up and the first performance of it being months later? Yeah, it hurt the single.

Good songs can last, or at least hang around, for awhile amongst the Christmas songs. Wasn't that Jack Harlow song doing well for awhile even during the XMas thaw? And a few others; I think one of Tate's did also. But both of those went viral, Dua's didn't. They tried to make a viral campaign but it was on YouTube shorts and just wasn't gonna work because it was kind of lame lmao.

The best strategy would absolutely be waiting until January. Likely after the Coachella announcement, since it is expected to be this upcoming week but could be any time between now and January. It's smarter to wait but it wouldn't be impossible for the release NOW if her team is going to do that.
