When u attend the show and listen to the album, you actually realize shes criticizing current US quite a bit and is only reflecting on what it actually means to be American by drawing comparisons to its former golden past.

Shes doing a commentary on what it means to be American rather than glorifying it

She's challenging a nationalist demographic that's done nothing but reject and gate keep her from the (American) country genre. She is being their American problem. As someone who considers nationalism a disease, I can understand fans being over it, but she's just unapologetically representing the side of America that the biggest nationalists in the country refuse to accept. Queer/POC American fans included.

All of you are giving complex responses to a simple minded conclusion. If you've even remotely watched the show, it's blatantly clear that this show is actively critiquing while reclaiming what it means to be American. The show is actively criticizing the gatekeeping of nationalism. Which is why she performs an interrupted version of the national anthem as a reclamation of power over freedom. It's not subtle so the take that the tour is glorifying the flag is just empty.

Cowboy Carter is such an important album and era
