Was saying this to a friend.

I really don't want to be nitpicky, because there is a lot that is great about the tour. BUT...

I'm someone who typically lives for Bey's live versions more than the recordings (so just know Homecoming was a dream come true). As such, the band for this tour, by comparison, has been a little flat. So many songs just sound like they pressed play on the Spotify version lol. As Hive since day 1, you can imagine that "debut through to 4 era" me is scratching my head. Because where are the extra horns, drum snares, or dramatic guitar solos (especially on Bodyguard?!) On Bey's part, where are the extra adlibs that are specific to live versions?

It's all very...verbatim. So much so that when I've caught some of the vids online of there actually being a band on stage that I get surprised. Because, for most songs, it easily sounds like the CD version.

Because I'm a geek about Bey's backend, I did notice (through a little deep diving) that she switched out her music director in the gap between Homecoming and RWT. From what I remember, her main guy was Derek Dixie, and before that, OG Hive will remember it was Kim Burse. This new regime has been in place since RWT...and, to an extent, you can tell.

It's by no means "bad" (at all), because some songs have indeed been beefed up and made richer and creamier like Jolene. They also did Beyonce Bowl, which excelled in this regard. It could all just be... better. Especially for an album that is a bit more mellow (and thus benefits from ramping it all up a bit).

Okay! Clearly I need to hear the show live for myself but every single video I've seen of Bodyguard looks lipped ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is a specific new outfit amma need her to retire or at least only wear for the Chicago shows.....

Last night.....

:jonny5:

A-FREAKING-MAZING

A couple of little details from last night of night 2:

-When she was performing "Ya Ya", when she begun the lyrics "got these slugs in my mouth", her band actually did not start playing.  :rip: She had to say the line again and then they continued playing. Guess it was a little mishap. Am I wrong for cackling a little bit?

-She has a new outfit for the AlliGAYtor Tears section. In my opinion, it's a bust.

-During Protector, we saw Rumi fling Blue's hair out of her face. I cackled again this time louder.

-Her outfit for the Desert Eagle section is now modified to be just a leotard but the same pattern. In my opinion, it looks BETTER. I'm sorry with that body, it's only right she shows it off.

-The Daughter interlude also has been shortened by a lot and it's terrible. In this new one when she is on the floor in the end (when she slaughters the hoe), you see her open her eyes. Plus some scenes are cut and some are intertwined. Bleh

I think that's all I can remember.

:keir:

OH and I just remembered that the encore section has a new outfit that is very identical to the one she had on opening night (American flag bodysuit). It's just the middle part is white and has some red pattern on the side.

I don't like it.

:)

I take back what I said about the CIL outfit revivals, she made some points with this version :clap3:

I can't get that one riff ("when you lose the one you wanted" part) out of my head.

Hmmm this song in its original version is surprisingly very great live. Like really really good. It's surprising me. Or is it just that it aged well?

Glad she's doing the studio versions of those hits.

The silver and gold one is genuinely awful and I also don't like the Letterman one one bit

That silver/gold thing for flamenco is a choice.

3 gold outfits is a bit much… I prefer keeping the opening White, change it up to whatever in flamenco, do red for Jolene/CIL/Cuff It/The Hits, Blue/denim for Tyrant/Levis/SHB, Gold for Rennie and the flag at the end. The denim/tank top CIL look can go… overdone and basic. Switch it to red

I would love for Beyonce to repost some compilation videos of her career to remind the gworls who she is and how long she's been doing this. Yes, I want her to post a stan twitter fancam. Some of them are sooo good.

Flea….sis… I'm sure you've seen the tour videos, no? Like why else post that anywhere else.

I need her casual fans/old fans that follow her on Instagram but forget why they still follow her cause they don't follow her music anymore and may unfollow when she spams the tour. Nostalgia does something to people.

OMG, I miss Kim with my whole heart. I miss the old team, Kim, Frank & Ashley. They left an undeniable mark on her live presences that has not been the same. Honestly she hasn't had an unmatched live settings since FWT &. Homecoming, but I do agree RWT band had a bigger presence than now. I know she use to incorporate arrangements tracks that replaced some studio instruments with live instruments into her shows when the band was present throughout the entire show, so using what sounds like the instrumentals of the album versions for certain songs is interesting. But, that's been the tour so far, everything's been give and take.
