What's everyone's view of Renaissance here? I went through the discog- Lemonade is top tier.  CC has great stuff but can afford a trim. Reni- not able to get into at all.  House music isn't for me ig

A fellow Lemonade's stan. :clap3:

Welcome on board.

RENAISSANCE is my 2nd fave Beyoncé's album after Lemonade, if you don't like house, it's normal that's it's not instant, maybe after a while, just focus on the songs you can vibe with.

Renaissance is the best piece of work this decade and no one will tell me otherwise. Yes lyrics matter, so you can make a case for albums more devastating or beautifully written sure.

But sonically which to ME is the number one priority if I'm listening to music… nothing moves me like Renny. The vocal layering, the rich levels to the production, the sequencing, the flawless runtime.

Everything else surrounding it is a mess and it's a crime we have no visuals and it didn't get a proper era but that album… idk if anything will ever compare to me. And I said this and swore this about 4 being her most "me" album with R&B. But Renny was the most Dooglecore of all her albums and she did it SO well

Renaissance was so instant for me. I remember complaining about wanting her to pause on the rap a bit (still true) then I press play and "these motherfuckers can't..." started to play. I was blown away, I wish I could release that.

I was also not confident about the album because of Atrl, it leaked before and everyone, I mean everyone in the album's thread who heard the leak was praising it. I thought.... Hmmm weird, don't Atrl hates B, is it a bunch of Dr Luke's songs? :dies:

I actually was nervous on my first listen because I'm That Girl was exactly what I didn't want her to serve. It's so talky and now I think it's such an incredible start but it felt like a waste of time. I was like this is cute but where's the dance. :rip: Cozy wasn't instant either. Love them both now but yeah I was starting to worry before track 3…

Alien Superstar onwards I just was in and out of almost tears the entire listen thinking this is my dream album, I couldn't believe it.

I actually remember your comments about AS very well, you kept saying that you don't understand why it makes you want to cry a bit. I was expecting some ballad. :lmao:

And I agree with your first post on this page.

Shsdjjfjf I'm screaming omg can you imagine. I was so blown away by its production and how it was so pop but in a Beyoncé way

I always forget how comments can be taken when you're reading before you hear the music yourself. I read someone say Virgo's Groove was a career highlight and the best song ever and it had me so hyped. People screaming about Prince on track 15, Donna Summer on track 16 I was like what the **** is going on.

When people started mentioning Charli XCX, PC music and AG Cook about AUIYM and I was still only up to like Cuff It I just thought people were coming in to troll :lmao: but then I reached the second half of the album and was like whoaaa ok it checks out

I remember thinking at one point she HAS to decrease quality wise, there's no other way around it. She had an incredible run in the 2010s, she could make the most bottom of the barrel type of music and that would still stand true. I'm That Girl completely floored me, feeling almost overwhelmed. She reinvented herself again! The Cozy into Alien Superstar transition and especially the latter track made it 100% clear she's not gonna let up any time soon.

Both Break My Soul and Church Girl are bops and Renaissance would be a worse album if either one of them weren't on it :coffee:

The amount of love I have for Church Girl now is crazy. It's still my like second favorite least favorite track on the album but now I fully understand it and its purpose. I used to wish it was never on the album. "Drop it like a thotty" was kinda jarring to hear from a 40 year old Beyonce lol

It's for sure my least played track but I have a real soft spot for it. Something about the production and sample and her vocal delivery it just took me back to 2004 like some Destiny Fulfilled bonus track if it was more upbeat

Okay! I felt mostly the same. I was excited about the dance rumors because I hoped the rap era was over but the ITG came on and I was so pissed :ahh:

When I heard "THIS A REMINDER" I was like okay, now we're talking. And by the 3rd listen it was easily in my top 5.

But Alien Superstar was the song I remember not wanting to end and loving about 45 seconds in

Does anyone care about the visuals or have any minor hints about the CC visuals or anythingggg. Also what do you guys think Vegas is for CC Tour?

I'm seeing all this anti-rapyonce meanwhile America Has A Problem is the Renaissance song with the most replay value and will stand the test of time.

Renaissance's only miss is Church Girl, which sounds like a Sasha Fierce reject. If she was going to reheat nachos she should have just house Standing On The Sun there.

can you tell us more about her and nose reheating the telephone 2.0 nachos ?

i remember listening to ren at midnight high af and getting scared when the first song had rapyoncé making an appearance (and the only description of the song i read beforehand was that it sounded like Accelerate, which didn't help :rip::rip::rip:)

till cuff it i was so confused, the transitions and song structures were so hard to make out like i didn't know where one song ended and the other next one began (AS was so instant tho, a bonafide classic). that was so much fun:WAP: and after cuff it i thought we'd go into more generic FN/say so disco territory, but then came POTS, which was so easy listening and breezy, it felt like being on an island (it was also so ******* hot that day, one of those 30 degrees july nights). as soon as it transitioned into virgo's god i knew what time she was on, i was instantly gagged, every single song was just giving smash after smash. move, heated, thique, all up, ahap, pure/honey were all insane to listen to for the first time, i don't think i've listened to anything other than the album for like 4 months straight.

i also don't think any other album will ever come close to the hype i felt during that first listening experience (ok maybe act 3 will), the wait for a new solo album was excruciatingly long but so ******* worth it :clap3:(never do that again hag !!)

An album in the vein of Suga Mama, MM&I & Green Light would be immaculate. I'm actually almost certain Act III's rock will be a funk-driven, experimental rock record kinda like There's a Riot Goin' On by Sly and the Family Stone.

See I know the Lemonade and Self-Titled snubs are big topics of conversation, but to me, Renaissance losing AOTY is THE big snub of her career.

I'm a gay black man that was raised in the Bible Belt. That song was literally crafted for ppl like me but I totally understand why ppl don't get it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Church Girl is excellent, the incorporation of the sample is reminiscent of old Kanye at his best.

It's also so fun.

All this stanning for Renaissance gets me so hype that act iii is going to be an hour or so of her voice and an electric guitar :WAP:

In the way that Renaissance was for the Blow stans, I hope act iii is for the I Care stans :jonny5:
