I always felt like Bey would've suited WFL like a glove. Even Rih's vocal performance on that song reminds me of Bey a little.

  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

The last couple of pages my lord:redface:

4 and ST are the most “beyonce” sounding albums to me. DiL was her standing out as a solo artist, B’day is basically the unofficial Dreamgirls soundtrack, Sasha Fierce was of its time, Lemonade was a thematic album, and Rennie feels like a exploration of new genres.

4 and ST have this more personal feeling to her than the rest, where she took her time with making the records.

Awful thought I sometimes have but my fear is that when she dies *knocks on wood*, I Was Here becomes her most celebrated work. :deadbanana4: For once I hope Halo can be of utility and save us. Oh Otherside, what you could have been.

BTINH to me felt like the moment where she felt truly dated and left in 2009

I completely agree with the sentiment. I remember how here on Atrl we were begging for EOT or CD but it seems she had already made a bold move and it failed so she gave up. Even her first performance of BTINH in that dress was so eeh, she sounded a bit uninspired.

I was just reading the RUN thread on Classic ATRL yesterday. One of their most underrated collabs even if Jay's verses are kinda terrible.

Well it's not terrible

But I also have not touched it since it was released. My point is her career and status would be intact today had these never happened.

Prior to Renaissance, 4 was my absolute favorite Beyonce album.  It really hit me when it came out, and it was an album I absolutely needed at the time.  I still remember that summer, and how much impact that album had.

I do agree that it pushed her longevity, and made people realize she had a lot of depth that maybe she lost with some of IA...SF.

Pheww, 4 is that album

Same...4 was my favorite album until Renny. not only do i have personal life moments attached to it but it's probably the only album where Beyonce did exactly what i wanted her to do following the previous album. as much I loved every album after...even Renaissance...a dance album still wasn't exactly on my personal wish list for B7 like others.

but with 4....it's like she saw MY list the year before & decided to go with it. priceless. i still remember when 1+1 came out...i listened it to 100 times...it was a dream come true moment.

But I prefer the live version. That performance from the tour is an EXPERIENCE. The whole segment with this, Forever Young + Halo is

yes I third this!

Even lyrically, the album sets forth the Beyoncé brand (carried from DC) that we still have today: audacious female financial autonomy and the use of men as potentially disposable lovers that are made better by association with her.

Even vocally, since DIL didn't have her rap-singing at all, songs like Upgrade U and Get Me Bodied set the stage for Diva and then the entire 2013+ era of her career from Drunk in Love to Formation to Everything is Love to Mood 4 Eva to RENAISSANCE.

Spot on

Upgrade U is still one of my favorite Beyonce tracks tbh :WAP:

I still can't decide if I like B'Day or 4 more after all these years tbh :psyduck:

ST and Renaissance are def top2 for me though

B'Day doesn't have a Diane Warren-penned song, so it's automatically the better album.

Should make the decision easier tbh.

The 4 slander :skull:

You're not a Beyoncé fan if you loathe that album. Period.

Whoever wrote such shitty takes should be permabanned :rip:

I Was Here is a beautiful song, if someone died and that played I would cry

Regarding Beyoncé’s past collabs, I largely just ignore the majority of them because I find them empty and unremarkable, and they come across as mostly just strewn together in a way to have her on the song. The only ones that really resonate are the most understated: the one with Mary J., UTEOT with Justin, and (on a good day) HFTW.

The only ‘popular’ collab worth its props would be Beautiful Liar: it’s simple and engaging, not overly thought-out, and the chemistry between them both is great. But even that has fallen into being more of a relic of it’s time, and I likely wouldn’t revisit very often.

Is it even a comparison? I got a Samsung phone in 2013 just to get that album for free :lmao:

what would you guys say are some of the most signature things about Beyonce's artistry??

for example...we know female empowerment & staccato singing are 2 things.

anything else you would say? visuals & performances also included

Hands down my favorite Bey-Z collab ever. They really put their collective billionaire p*ssy in this one.

4 is also the first album where she actually sang on the record and didn’t hold back. That was a big deal for me at the time

Has to be crack, like actual crack.

:deadbanana2:

Funny before 4, Kitty Kat was my fave B's song, after it was 1+1 and that remained so until the magnificent AHAP.

And tbh before Lem, 4 was my most played album. That opener plus that  1-2-3punch and one of her best songs ever (that is sadly a bit forgotten because it wasn't on the standard edition) Schoolin' Life make the album so enjoyable.

Tbh, take IWH and BTINH out replace them with D4U and SL, leave Start Over for a big vocal moment and 4 is a damn masterpiece and stands next to ST/Lem and Ren.

actually I was wrong, my favorite collab is Bey and her cl*t on VirGOD’s Groove :WAP:
