Beyonce only has decent playlistng for this most recent album cause she's decided to not lift a single finger for the past 5 months. But it's not enough. I've seen artists push commercial jingles harder. Her 2010 albums are horribly playlisted. It doesnt make any sense for the 2000s and DC music to be outstreaming. But even then, her 2000s catalog isn't being optimized either.

But I also don’t think people don’t realize how long Bey went without a new album on Spotify. ST was uploaded November 2014 and she didn’t put a new album on Spotify until April 2019. That’s 4.5 years of no new music (sans a few collab songs) during the pivotal years of streaming (2016-2018 IMO).

 

Rih has had a longer drought since Anti, but since that album was so big on streaming and was released in 2016 when streaming was exploding, she’s been able to maintain that success. Taylor went 5 years without a new album on Spotify (2012-2017) but since she released Reputation in 2017 during those pivotal streaming years and has released constantly since, she’s been able to become huge on streaming. 
 

IMO it’s the combo of her lack of promo and how she really fumbled the bag between 2014-2019 and missed out on those pivotal years when she could’ve been building her streaming power with a new album. 

I appreciate the discourse from you both. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that even though she previously kept lemonade off streaming she still did well and held her own weight with her catalog. She consistently had great engagement. Then it all seemed to fall off. 

 

So for a brand new album to come out from her and not get into the top 10 leads me to believe something shifted away from her. 

i am among 0.005% (!!) listeners! she should give me a VIP ticket for free!

 

Her spotty numbers are not great. If i remember well, she was doing extremely well on streaming until a year or two ago. Then suddenly her catalogue slowed down.

Drunk in Love literally charted top 10 in Europe, Latin and Asian Markets and top 40 in several more. 7/11 did well enough. You don't have tohave a global smash to get adequate playlisting. 

 

But thanks for lurking and stopping by in Beyonce's Base. This board has been "investigating" and dragging Beyonce for over 20 years and she's still one of the most consumed female artists of the year without trying. 

I was in the top 0.1% of Beyoncé listeners but feeling like a flop stan after seeing 0.01% and 0.0005% in here

She is currenly the #7th for most streamed female artist based off lead credits. She is currently #30 for all time on the platform based on lead credits. Her position shifts once total lead and feature credits are included but she's still top 10 for women and 40 overall.

 

So yeah. Theres a reason why stans are constantly in discussion over Beyonce's numbers. Cause they're good overall but she's losing steam compared to other artists who were frankly not on the radar 5 or even 2 years ago. So when the fans are in here discussing the obvious, we want to identify the error Parkwood/Beyonce made over the years. And it's not the "global hits" that yall like to drag about. It's engagement, lack adequate playlisting and branding that's hurting her going into the Gen Z/Tik Tok generation.

Can somebody create a thread about Renaissance on year end critics lists since we got the album thread closed? She’s #1 on albumoftheyear and just got a #2 from exclaim! and three top 5 positions from different NYT editors.

no one else to blame by herself. and i wouldnt be surprised if spottify is not too keen on her and holds grudge due to tidal and ignoring them for years.

i notice halo slowed down... about 2 -3years ago Umbrella and Irreplaceable had the same number of spotify streams, now Umbrela xas more than x2 Irreplaceable's streams. etc.

Spotify is lying to me. There's no way on god's green earth that I listened to BMS more than POTS. Ain't no way.
