I simply don’t understand how all of the artistry, depth, and context of, what I call, The Love Trilogy (Lemonade, 444, EIL) would get lost on ya’ll. 

 

It profoundly changed the way I view love, companionship, and human dignity.

I don’t even stop to think about “oh someone could call Beyoncé a bird”. Like what? Dumb and weak… for having an unbreakable and enduring love…?  
 

I’ll be honest I don’t even think about that Jay cheated cause we’re WELL passed that chapter in Bey’s story. Anti-Jay Hive should move on too.

I don't even know where to start with this because most of those suppositions are wrong. 

I do care but that's not my life and that was not my concern. My concern was that the thread was designed in a way that invites people to insult my favorite artist. That's what I cared about. 

And she did care. She left, made a whole album about the trauma that it caused her. Forgiving is completely different to not caring. 

 

But anyway true, it's not deep. I am the problem here, I'll just stay out of that thread. People randomly insulting her, and not as a joke like here in the base, does bother me. But that is a me-problem as you stated.

And I remember when some media outlets like daily mail and the sun had articles about a greatest hits album with 2 new songs just a few weeks before homecoming.

I think it's a clever and different approach to a GH album with a rearranged version.

I get not liking to see Bey dragged.

 
But after all these years, I just don’t care what people have to say about Bey. Something broke in me with the surrogacy crusade in 2012. 
 

That’s when I knew it didn’t matter what was true or false. Everything will always get twisted when it came to Bey.  That outlook, combined with Bey’s approach to controversy (e.g. Bow Down, Flawless Remix, “boycott Beyoncé”, etc) helped me step back and look at the bigger picture. 
 

The basic reality is: Removing yourself from criticism also removes you from consideration. 
 

To have any impact at all, like Bey did when she bared her soul on Lemonade, or when she uplifted the entire black diaspora on the world stage with Black Is King, you have to put yourself in front of people in a way that also exposes you to the dumb **** dumb people have to say.

There are tons of movie soundtrack songs that are explicitly meant for the purpose and film it was created for, and are still great songs on their own outside of the movie. Be Alive is not one of those songs IMO but I also don’t fault people who enjoy it for what it is. 
 

It’s no different than a song from a musical being made specifically for a specific character in a specific moment in that show (Don’t Rain On My Parade, And I’m Telling You, Memory, Defying Gravity, etc.) yet still being seen as a great song on its own. 
 

The fact that Be Alive was only meant to be an end credits song means it should’ve been even easier for it to transcend the film and still be heard as a good song on its own IMO. 

Be Alive is a good song on its own though. The things people critique it for are usually ways it does not conform to a typical song structures, a trait all the examples cited do not share with this song.

 

The criticism is the beat is too much, there is no bridge, they want orchestration, etc... of course she could have made a track that represented determination and never giving up WITH those things but she chose to make a song that did so specifically from the production choice of having an incessant, unending, driving beat...something many people dislike in the song, but again, work great in the context of the credits...and again...this is probably why it was nominated for an Oscar.

 

It's very similar to Hold Up's production serving a metaphorical purpose. It would have been GREAT for the Countdown sample to lead into a sonic release...something the song could use to make it a fully rounded track. BUT that was not her intention, and instead the release comes with the next song (Don't Hurt Yourself) because she's using sound to tell a story and to impart a feeling (good or bad).

 

In the case of Be Alive, if you feel it's too incessant it's because she wants you to feel that the Williams' sisters dreams and journey is just that.

 

All in all, all this hoopla and complaints over a song she acknowledged ONCE only because (through no promotion of her own) it was nominated for an Oscar is silly. It's an end-credits soundtrack song not meant to transcend the film. It wasn't even sent to radio.

No idea what the discourse is in this thread. I just read the last page and work backwards. I see Be Alive being discussed.

 

Song was not bad. But the production was off and needed more. That on top of Bey not campaigning at all? It got further than expected. I definitely appreciate Beys pen not being questioned with only 2 writers on the song and she went head to head with some competition. 

 

As far as someone's current song being considered Oscar bait and a tribute. Yeah... we all see it. The Gift has gotten alot of love in the last few weeks. I wish an Otherside or Bigger could have got on the ballot. Those songs? Heaven. 

When will Lemonade 

 

She needs to release the visuals all at once on Netflix with a documentary about how Renaissance came to be. Then use the hype that comes with the documentary to release Act II. 

 

I feel that's the option she has now. Releasing videos on youtube right now before the holidays wont do a damn thing for the album. It's time she moves on and i think Renaissance already did the job of improving her streaming stats which will help the next album.

I don’t think it’s coming this year. I’m curious to know what act 2 is going to sound like and if the roll out is going to be as bad as REN. They need to have more vinyl ready in stores for week 1. 
 

She could do with hiring some fans to give her some feedback tbh lol

Today is the day I actually start using the ignore function on this forum. Hopefully it feels much more enjoyable not having to see the posts from the usual trolls. I'm getting too old to have my skin crawling on a daily basis.

What’s the pernt of wanting certain songs to be singles when she actively ignores them, lets them die, and they don’t get visuals or performances or anything

 

#HeatedSupremacy of course but @Devin all you’re asking is for an influx of TikToks of the yada, yada, yah, yada, yada, yah-yah part for like two weeks at best and then back to oblivion, that’s all that’ll happen lbr

Actually yes they were, but that was because I couldn't deal with the endless spam of GIFs and nonsense.  Today I'm using it as more of a cleansing function!
