She is attending a ball tonight so perhaps she will release some pics to promote it. I mean it's her mom annual charity event right?

What gives Lemonade the edge for you?

The lyrics.

The storytelling.

The juxtaposition of black people's pain and the hurt of the betrayal in the relationship.

How healing through pain can strengthen both a relationship and humans

The juxtaposition of rock, country, pop, RnB, hip hop.

And the movie... That movie.

Hold Up is also colorful.

Best opening song of her career.

It's kinda painful to witness a mediocre record like Midnights dwarf Renaissance in streams and sales like this :deadbanana2:

Come in here in 2 years and i will bet you money that Beyoncé's Renaissance and her other two acts will be more remembered, talked about, copied, etc... than anything Taylor and Adele have released this year and the last.

Yeah you're right. The songs that break the records aren't necessarily the biggest classics years later when the dust has settled.

It’s still true. She still appeals to a young audience.  She plays it very safe with her music and that is probably why.

Taylor is definitely more marketable and approachable when it comes to her music, yes. But just like the comparison with Chromatica, I think the Hive's insecurity and comparing Renaissance to Midnights is another miscalcuation.

1. Midnights is a result of YEARS of streaming build up that Taylor did/had to makeup. The re-recordings especially helped her catalog plenty and made her audience more widespread and that's not even counting the TikTok audience that she perfectly caters to with her songs. The aggressive promo and correct marketing are things we've said countless times that Taylor has done effortlessly better than Bey. But, the Taylor album y'all should be comparing it to is LOVER, not Midnights (ditto when I said that HTE was the more appropriate parallel for the debut week instead of Chromatica). Lover was Taylor's first album properly released in the streaming era and did 54M first day. That was pretty great for her. Renaissance is Bey's first streaming era album and 43M is solid for her. If the US was more receptive to House music, she would've done slightly better, probably around 50M. Lover had triple the promo and 3 singles prior to release.

2. Taylor's streaming grew exponentially after cause she kept releasing more often and her catalog soared cause of it. If Bey does this same formula, she will also grow. Maybe not to that extent, but very much better than what she's used to.

Yeah Beyoncé neglected streaming for a few years and Renaissance was the first project to correct some of that and i would say it's doing well for her. If she had released the visuals in time, some tracks would all be crossing the 100M streaming mark right now but at the end of the day we cant feel bad more than the person who is in charge and that's Bey. If she was bothered by ANY of this, she would stop playing with her releases and just give the fans what they want. The fact that she doesn't means that whatever happens she is not that bothered by it. As fans we need to accept to let go of what we dont control. Beyoncé is not a starving artist, heck her next tour profit will probably make her a billionaire officially even though in my mind she already is and has just not updated the info to forbes yet because she is that petty.

Bey will never measure up to Taylor simply because she pulls the plug early. Its annoying but thats who shes become.

I know no grown woman who listen to Taylor Swift. Her music is very childish imo and the way she acts in her musicvideo is kinda cringeworthy. 30+ women don’t stream an album all day, we have a career and kids. Mostly of her fanbase are teenagers. Anyway Taylor’s fanbase in Asia is also very big. She has a dedicated fanbase. I don’t really care about her streaming power, the album is still very boring to me.

Who is insecure? I have no issue with Taylor. I only compare her because we got nothing this era. She knows how to build up hype for the fans.

I’m not sure Bey releasing so much would help her. REN did nothing for her catalogue.

If you look at the artists who are doing really well, they all play it safe. I personally find that boring but I understand why those artists do well.

1. Renaissance

2. 4

3. Lemonade

4. BEYONCE

5. B'day

6. IA...SF

Not you specifically but just a lot of the Hive who are doing too much over this.

Taylor didnt see a huge spike in her catalogue until the Folklore-Evermore-Fearless/RED TV whammys IIRC

Great post! And I think you are right for the most part. The only difference is that Taylor figured out pretty early where the industry was headed and released reputation a few months after it’s release  and kept releasing from there. She’s in her 30’s now and will continue to outpeak because of it and especially with the help of TikTok where the youth is always playing her music for the soundtrack to their lives. Beyoncé is in her 40’s it’s most likely to late for that now to try to connect with them and she’s never going to have that huge debut. She squandered it after lemonade. My frustration mainly stems from the wasted potential. And I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact she’ll be mid tier in the rankings.

Not a huge fan of Taylor's new album. I really liked Folklore and Evermore but I think Midnights is too similar to her old stuff that I really don't like. Back to listening to Renaissance the Masterpiece.

She should release a Renaissance deluxe version around the time the tour starts with a couple of outtake songs, BMS Queens remix and Heated Drake remix.

I’m sorry, but the way the mods continue to protect Taylor from any and all criticism on this site, while allowing racist and cruel drags about Beyoncé to go unchecked has really got to be addressed at some point.

I just created a “[insert publication] drags Taylor” thread and it was instantly closed by one of her stans who happens to be a mod, Juanny. Meanwhile, threads like that about Beyoncé (not to even mention the extremely derogatory and racist threads) are kept open and unchecked for days and weeks on end.

How is this even right or fair? Taylor gets preferential treatment and it’s genuinely disturbing.

To be a mod, you must agree to be neutral and unbiased. If you can’t commit to that, then let go of that title and give it to someone who can. Juanny has consistently shown an inability to be neutral and unbiased. It’s high time for him to step down as a mod.

I think beyond Bey wanting us to enjoy the music before giving us the visuals, maybe there is another reason that’s more to do with her personally. Single Ladies would not have been as big as it was if not for the video. ST was a spectacle because of the visual aspect (as well as the surprise). Lemonade also had a film to back it. I think maybe Bey felt she had to prove to herself that she didn’t need visuals to be successful and that her music is enough on its own.

That said, she’s proved it now so… :kitty:

Threads like the one you made always get closed. We can only make one for the Metacritic and one for Pitchfork.

By the way, did we not forbid you to make threads? :dies:

Taylor threads getting locked left and right. But when Renaissance dropped it was cool to have Jagger and other OBHs spew venom. :rip:

They don’t get closed that quickly, Blue. It was literally closed after 20 seconds. I’ve seen threads like that pertaining to Bey stay open for hours and days before they’re eventually closed.

Tag the mods. Let them explain why they seem to be biased.

I remember one mod telling a Bey fan a thread was staying open to let the haters have their fun. :deadbanana2:
