That fanbase using Olivia to drag Ariana. They did the same with Billie. Pathetic losers. :coffee2:

OT: That's a huge debut. AOTY I fear. :clap3:

It’s definitely gonna grow

Looks like 200k+ post-bundle rules is possible for non-Taylor/Adele pop girls :jonny: this is great news

Great number for her

The Swifties hiding behind Olivia to shade Ariana now? Pathetic

Without bundles wtf.
No shade but what would Billies numbers have been had she not been able to do all those bundles?

This is like the biggest non Taylor Adele numbers sans tactics :chick2:

Well it sold 170k pure first week and considering it ended selling 1.1m pure in the US, the bundles were not the definitive factor for people to buy it.

Not arguing, it’s a huge album. I’m honestly not trying to be shady, Billie is just the only other huge female gen z debut thus far, so it’s interesting to compare.

sour feels bigger than what I remember of WWAFA’s first week, so I’m wondering if these numbers are bigger than Billies if she released under these rules that don’t count bundles. Bundling isn’t a huge part of Billies over all sales after two years, but if I recall they were a huge part of her first week, right?

I just did some research because I’m intrigued, and those “pure sales” back in 2019 included bundles.

“Items in her wildly popular Blohsh merch line were bundled with digital album, which likely gave her a boost,”

“When We All Fall Asleep had concert ticket/album sale redemption offers assisting their first weeks.”

“bundling an album with a piece of merch, like this “green slime mask” from Billie Eilish that comes with a free download of When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? What a nice gesture, right? Not on Billboard’s watch. The longtime chart authority announced today that if an artist wants such a bundle to count toward their chart position on the Billboard 200 or any other album charts, there’ll be some new rules to follow starting January 3”

so back in 2019, all these bundles counted to the final 170k pure, the fact that olivia is pulling these numbers after the rule change is so ****ing insane. It doesn’t look like Billie would have had close to the first week she did have without the luxury of bundles counting towards “pure” sales. I can’t imagine how big olivias number would be if she could bundle a tour/merch with her first week sales!

Honestly, I could see her even doing a little more. She’s come out swinging with this era. Very impressive.

Well, in 2019 streaming wasn't as big as it is now and Tik Tok had no power, so you also should take that into consideration. Billie's debut would have been even bigger with 2021 streaming growth and Tik Tok influence (imagine bad guy with Tik Tok?)

So in the end: If Olivia had debuted in 2019, her pure sales numbers would have been bigger, but her streaming lower. If Billie had debuted in 2021, her pure sales numbers would have been smaller, but her streaming bigger.

It looks like streaming was just as big for her core demo in 2019. Nobody in the US age 13-27 streaming in 2021 wasn’t already streaming in 2019. I mean, TU,N came out in 2019 a month before WWAFA, and did 70 million first day streams. That outpaces Arianas own late 2020 follow up album positions by 11 million. Scorpion came out in 2018, and is still the biggest first day streamer ever. If streaming was growing that exponentially, especially for Billies demo, that should be reflected in these numbers.

wasn't it? I'm pretty sure it barely changed, especially considering how much covid hurt the music industry and how just now things are starting to get better

As I said about Tik Tok, Billie would have been helped a lot had it been a thing when her album was released. You are using Ariana and Drake to compare with Billie that was releasing her debut album. Of course they would have huge numbers and of course it was their peak, so it was expected for the next records to be smaller.

Back in March 2019, when bad guy did 7m on its debut that was impressive for the time, but now you have Olivia, Lil Nas and Justin doing over 6m with their months old singles. Even Doja is doing 5.7m. Tik Tok inflated streaming so much.

My bad, I was talking mostly about big hits, but my point is that a song like bad guy would had been way more explosive with the current way music is promoted (aka Tik Tok) and Billie would have more exposure with people making her go viral there.

Anyway I think we are going off topic :rip:

OT: She is coming to 250k :clap3:

i hope every subsequent up and coming popgirl outshadows positions the way miss livie did its what the donut licker DESERVES for not making safety net a single!

New HDD update:

As we noted earlier, SOUR is on track to have the fourth-biggest debut week of 2021, with an opening in the neighborhood of 200k. How high will this rocket fly? Stay tuned.

An increase prediction is coming :jonny5:

It's so exciting to see a new artist achieve these heights on their debut. She is really a force to be reckoned with :jonny: I can't wait to watch her mature as a talent and fulfill her potential
