The material didn't look succesful to me, if it passes Joanne's SPS by a 150k difference overall it's good for her standards. :michael:

these sales are on par with halsey and katy perry.

Can you elaborate?

billie was literally a new artist when she debuted with 300k+, halsey is not a rap artist either. and i said i wouldn't put her in the same league as post and drake (the rap artists you mentioned) or taylor (that isn't at her peak either way). like i said, if little monsters weren't amping her up like she's this success monster then nobody would be dragging. but all this talk to not even compete with people like harry, billie and halsey is just crazy.

a) who's fault is it she released a terrible first single? and we both know the era was delayed because she thought she'd have greater commercial success. it just backfired.

b) like i said, she could've released her album on schedule. she chose to believe that COVID-19 wasn't gonna be a thing by this time and she took her chances. that being said, i would believe you if you told me the pandemic was a factor in all of this but even with her previous album when she did promotion, interviews, stores were open and yada yada yada, she still wasn't able to sell over 300k first week. so i honestly don't have any indicator that with all of that she would've done better.

c) so what's gaga's demographic then? cause if you told me she's more of a digital/pure sales artist then i'd believe you but those aren't great either. and she has a bundle as well, which reminds me that she still hasn't given her fans their money back for those tickets that are 100% going to be rescheduled/cancelled just so they could count towards the first week.

300k opening week for a major popstar isn't unrealistic. literally anybody that has any bit of a fanbase + gp support is doing it. and we're expecting more because little monsters had us under the impression that she was this big sales + streaming monster.

A) Yes, but you can't expect her to do 300k+ if she stopped promoting the first single after 1 week. The entire music industry started shutting down as record labels were shifting literally all their releases. Streaming and physical sales dropped tremendously as well. So you already have one single not being promoted and the other single released only week before.

B) Joanne didn't have bundles and was coming off her worst era ever -- it was originally set for 150k until she did major promotion like SNL, etc and it bumped up to 201. The same thing happened with A Star is Born. It was set to debut at #2 until she went hardcore with the promotion. You don't think she would've done better if she had expanded her tour dates?, had her store open the entire week? done promotion and performances the entire week? Please let's stop the delusion :deadbanana4: I've literally given you two examples of her sales going up with promotion and even the bare promotion she did with Chromatica went from HDD saying "she'll barely touch 200k" to almost touching 300k :bibliahh:

C) Her main demographic is 25 and up. The streaming demographic consists of younger fans - hence why a majority of the artists topping now are under 30.

She does her best with sales and that's been discussed a million times. I'm pretty sure if we look at SPS from her previous 3 albums, we'll see sales are the bulk of it. She's just catching up on streaming now. If the concert is rescheduled then she doesn't need to refund the money - anyone would know that. The Weeknd is doing that, but we aren't dragging him.

I'm not sure why 300k is suddenly the benchmark when did 231 with 24k Magic, only 30,000 more than Joanne :skull: 200k is great, please stop trying to undersell it.

The no promo excuses when the Monsters dragged the stats of other artists who don’t promote for years just for Gaga to be doing even worse :bibliahh:

Girl Witness debuted with 180k, 100k less. That's certainly not on par, especially when 162 of came from pure sales. :skull:

The way you guys keep making up the false narratives. You're comparing her to artists who are in their peak or rap artists who have a significant advantage to pop artists. You realize it's the 5th biggest sales week this year despite literally everything it has going against it.

A) She postponed the era once and only had promo the week before the album after a terrible first single :deadbanana4:

B) She shut down her store 3 days into the sales week, cancelled all interviews and press, Target and Walmart closed a majority of physical stores due to lootings and protests (or they were already closed because of COVID)

C) Harry's base is literally the streaming demographic, having his breakout era. His bundles include a massive tour date and he was able to promote significantly more. :deadbanana4:

like you guys keep having unrealistic expectations for someone who at this point has posted more about political issues than the actual album she just released :rip:

Her promoted singles literally have two of the top streaming acts (Ariana Grande and BlackPink)

She was plastered all over Spotify/Apple music

I've seen ads for her album on youtube and instagram

Like girl they went ALL out for this album. An "unfair comparison" is not some valid excuse

Features doesn't mean people are going to your album. I listened to countless amount of features with every listening to a full album :bibliahh:

okay but what about the instances where she's had promotion and hasn't crossed the 300k mark?

nobody said bruno's numbers were good either way, but he had longevity to back it up. chromatica is already down 80% and it's only the second week.

all i'm saying is 274k isn't good for the amount of relevance y'all say lady gaga has. especially since acts that were much much smaller than her are getting those now. if y'all admitted maybe gaga is not this huge selling force you guys think she is, nobody would be dragging her but you guys are literally in another thread saying she's bigger than taylor swift and yet it's probably gonna take this album over a year to reach lover's first week sales. if it ever does.

yeah but what part of had she done performances she would've crossed 300k :deadbanana4:

If I'm telling you for 3 albums (C2C, Joanne, ASIB) in a row she's increased with promotion over 50k from initial reads to final result ain't 274 + 50 over 300 :ace:

Taylor has always been bigger. If anyone is saying otherwise then they can sit with their own delusion.

Bruno had almost a 70 percent decrease second week with promotion :rip: His second week was black friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year :ace: Ya'll done, because you guys are running out of excuses.

Expected. Big debut- big drop has always been her M.O.

& IDK where this “no promo” excuse is coming from cause  I’ve seen television commercials for Rain on Me that mention the album being available for purchase :emofish:

i get that you’re saying this based on track record and things that have happened before like promo increasing her predictions. in the streaming era, an ariana grande and blackpink collab are literally two of the biggest forms of promotion. and if we’re going by track record, she hasn’t debuted with 300k since 2011. there’s no indication that tells me that miraculously lady gaga is going to be doing numbers she hasn’t touched in a whole decade. and as others have said, there has been promo. i’ve had chromatica pop up even when i’m trying to order food.

Its a house inspired electronic pop album released in 2020, what did you expect? she's not following trends and doing what she wants. i feel like atrl forgets that musicians are artists  even if they release pop music. still great numbers for someone avoiding mumble rap features and whisper pop

Not the Liddos acting like the GP would care about her pop album even if she did televised promo. Ariana and a Blackpink collaboration Is enough exposure. Her dedicated fanbase will buy her album and that's it... just like her past studio albums as shown with these predictions.:rip:

So are you just ignoring the fact that the Oscars made Shallow shoot to #1 and the Super Bowl made Million Reasons shoot to #4?

Had it not been for SNL/Carpool Karaoke, Joanne would've debuted with only 150-160k. Gaga is very promo sensitive, and that's a good thing.

The Oscars, Super Bowl, and Grammys are all different kind of promotional beasts with viewerships ranging from 25-110 million. :rip: All of those have already passed before Stupid Love's release and those opportunities are rare and made for specific material to perform anyway. I'm talking about late night, day time, etc., which don't really appeal to a younger demographic anymore and are on a decline. SNL's average viewers are in their 30s/40s and I highly doubt they would eat a pop record like Chromatica up. Those small promo would have pushed a couple more thousands, but I don't see pop serving longevity in this landscape. A safer and more appealing sound like ASIB would be different.

signed cds are back on her website...watch her just barely sneak her way into the number one spot this week :gaygacat1:

What s most depressing about it aren’t even the numbers, but the fact that we ain’t getting any exicitng stuff anymore.

Drag her as much as you want, but she completely abandoned this era the moment the album came out. We got 0 radio interviews, 0 live TV shows, 0 performances. Hell, we didn’t even get the damn streaming party :ace:

Her website store has also been down for a few consecutive days :rip:

A large debut, fueled by pre-orders, website and tour bundles will always result in a big drop the following week, no matter the artist. Stop overreacting :skull:

Albums ain’t selling 100k on a regular week anymore. Those days are long gone and this is just how far streaming can get you. Oh well.

Honestly, it shouldn’t have been an album. It should have been a concept 8 Track EP, and the rest of the album should have been bonus tracks.

There’s some good tracks but there’s also a lot of tracks that do the same job. Fans would have gotten all the tracks, but the expectation of a studio album wouldn’t be there.

I think the same story could have been told with 8 stellar tracks, and maybe save the features as a re-release when this all blew over.

As an album, there’s no easily accessible tracks besides the features. It really is “a project” and 16 tracks is a huge commitment to the general public.

The fact she’s probably not even going to support the album past Rain On Me to it’s full extent, it should have been an EP and the next project should have been an album.

COVID is really no excuse when Katy (despite underperforming) is basically promoting as if nothing is different.

Only fans buy albums.

General public just stream the songs they like.

They'll end up re-releasing it like The Fame Monster milking the success for as long as possible. She'll end up doing the promo she wanted to do to begin with.

I really hope so!

is she really gonna do an add on ep or remix version or something?  please?? cuz i want the original free woman and the sophie material

this is a good 2nd week.  i know joanne sold a tiny bit more 2nd week, but was it #2 second week or a lower chart position?
