I think there's been worse episodes (the elon musk one and Lisa was even more annoying), but yeah I also tend to hate the celebrity glazing episodes on The Simpsons. It just didn't work as a whole episode, would've been better if she just voiced an original character instead. It was clearly written (poorly) as a vehicle for promotion, and to top it all off it was a season finale episode.

Truly one of the last great mainstream teen vocalists we've had in the US. It's like they don't make 15 year old's this talented anymore. And her mother was right to be angry, she absolutely should not have been singing half of these songs (The Way You Do, I Can Take You There, and Like That especially) but they're still SO good. How To Touch A Girl was the wrong second single. No one should have let her record that in the first place.

This. It's 100x better to do this or to simply create fiction loosely inspired by true stories. Ed Gein is a great example of someone who is interesting psychologically, but whose story is much more excitingly told through fictitious work (Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre). All three of those series are huge and don't glorify the real life killer that inspired them or exploit the actual victims of said crimes, all while creating great timeless works of horror.

I would've agreed in like, 2008, maybe even 2011 about Chris still being a successor to male pop royalty, but it's been a long time, and Chris never went beyond simply being a great dancer. His music isn't innovative, he doesn't add much to the conversation, he largely stagnated artistically, and he just didn't put in the work to continue evolving as an artist or performer. I do believe young men (especially black and brown men) can be rehabilitated and I think this case overall was very sad for both parties involved, at the time anyway. Chris had a choice to be rehabilitated in both his personal life and his public image. He was a young man who had the financial means to be able to really put in the work and become a better person and do better. There was a time for forgiveness, but that opportunity is long gone. He instead consistently chose ego and isn't deserving of a title like this, neither because of his many reported cases of physical violence and abuse of power, or for his complete lack of artistic growth.

Well, I guess the lead single just didn't click the way they thought it would, or at least not enough to garner attention for the full album two weeks later. This is my first Miley album since Hannah Montana though, I actually really liked most of it and half the album is on repeat. Makes me want to check out her other albums in full now.

In the US, Meaning of Life sold double, nearly triple on its first week than what Love Sux sold, and it also had Love So Soft charting on pop radio, along with a Grammy nomination. Kelly's relevance has greatly diminished, but not to the extent that Avril's has. Not to mention the popularity of her talk show keeping her relevant as a celebrity. Avril has none of that, but I don't think she really cares.
