  1. Kind of. I lowered my expectations a bit since Guts served longevity, but not necessarily a huge peak like this one has achieved. Once I heard "The Cure" though, I knew this album was going to be something truly special and I'm glad it's seeing this level of success for her.
  2. Hopefully she sees the financial benefit of touring and keeps doing it even if she doesn't release as much
  3. She has a huge presence in the US being able to sell out stadiums. As much as Latinamericans enjoy saying latinos born in the US aren't real latinos. It makes sense you'd hear more about Shakira though since she had english crossover success for multiple eras and is a bigger celebrity because of that in the West.
  4. Queen, her next line should be jockstraps
  5. How dense are you? Like stan, like fave I guess. No one is saying it's a bad strategy, and yes, they are tactics that are frequently used by record labels, but the argument that she did it all solo is untrue and it's thanks to the remixes that they were pushed to the #1 spot. Without that Missy remix, LFN wouldn't have had the sales to go #1 and that was a huge point of discussion back then.
  6. Context still matters because the main reason she was able to tie this record was due to them releasing these remixes and having the itunes sales propel them to #1. In addition to releasing the deluxe version 2 years later with PoM and Wide Awake to extend its chart run. Every song was a smash hit though, there's no denying that. And arguably, these hits have stood the test of time much more than half of MJ's singles from Bad.
  7. The fact that you put a song for a film that famously fired someone for simply being pro-palestinian and questioning the "famous Jewish person from LA" only highlights how connected these rich pricks in West LA are. Hopefully she's a one-hit wonder, she's just as bland as the rest of these religious nepo-babies living in Pico-Robertson and Beverly Hills.
  8. JLo was selling on par with Britney and Christina for her first 3 albums... and outselling Mariah during this time - by a HUGE margin, which is essentially what led to Mariah's breakdown making her think Tommy had succeeded in destroying her.
  9. I forget she basically started out as a Rihanna tribute act...
  10. All of the flop pop girl groups that Robin Antin wanted to create to be the Pussycat Dolls' successor - Girlicious, Paradiso Girls, G.R.L., the Pussycat Dolls 2.0 group that Pia Mia joined and never even started...
  11. This is unironically definitely what she would have wanted
  12. I have conflicting feelings over this. On one hand, I wanna say how awful that some of these people are continuing to line up Rowling's pockets given how awful she has become (or has always been idk), but at the same time this is also their work and legacy and it's a shame that these actors can't also openly celebrate that without being criticized.
  13. BornUnbroken replied to TomTom's topic in Base
CD's don't take months to press, it's vinyls that do. Since vinyl sales have overtaken CD sales and for charting purposes, record labels need all physical media to come out at the same time. It's annoying, but I get why it's in their best interest.

I think 2-3 weeks prior for CD's was correct - I also remember Gaga doing a similar thing back for Born This Way, she had less than a month to go and was still recording. Vinyl records are the ones that take longest because of the lack of vinyl plants.
  15. Yikes, I forgot she released physicals for this. Makes it even worse considering all of her first 3 albums at least charted and none of them had physicals. Physical copies must have sold less than 1k. A complete shame because the album is good. Is this her last album with RCA? Kemosabe isn't listed, or is it likely that she renewed a contract directly with RCA? Whatever it is, both her management and her label fumbled this badly.
  16. This is one of the reasons I do appreciate the streaming era - great album tracks have a chance of getting their shine, otherwise I highly doubt Gaga would have ever performed this live. I Like It Rough needs to be next!
  17. This ******* narcissist. You don't get to claim you did the right thing by cutting your own daughter out when your own behavior and abuse throughout her life is what caused her to make those poor decisions as a teenager and then as an adult. She's only doing these interviews to clean up her own image. What a rotten person.
  18. Like we gaf about the opinion of some white CEO loser that couldn't commit fraud well enough to stay out of prison lmaoooo
  19. I... don't think what she said was disrespectful? Her whole answer was very empathetic towards her passing, and she was asked directly about what she was like that day she interviewed her. Lying and saying she was completely fine would be much worse. People need to put their pitchforks down for every little thing.
  20. idk but I find it hilarious that Kesha's last album, which was her first to be released independently, is doing better than Katy's dr. Luke produced album
  21. I think it's a mix of her music being heavily piano-ballad driven which isn't really popular right now + not being as heavily playlisted during summer season. But lbr if Adele announced a global stadium tour right now, it'd sell out in seconds
  22. She's definitely global, but it does suck that the pivot into a more R&B sound took away some of her international musical popularity. Most of Latin America dropped her instantly and she isn't really well known in Spanish speaking territories. I hate that Mexico doesn't really use her even during Christmas
  23. They can hate JLo for anything but her acting - she immortalized Selena in this role. Only reason she wasn't nominated for the Oscars was absolutely racism, considering she was even nominated for a golden globe.
  24. Her country... Utada was born in New York City
