You could say the same for a huge portion of mainstream English pop music though. Majority aren't very rich or subversive lyrically, and I would argue that both anglo and latino pop markets fare a lot better in indie pop spaces right now. Taylor's lyrics are very in your face. For every Billie Eilish or Rina Sawayama, there's 5 Gracie Abrams. In Latin/Spanish pop, artists like Little Jesus, Rosalia, Danna, Joaquina, Juliana, Kenia Os, Ivan Cornejo, etc. rival the kind of alt pop that Charli, Rina, Lorde, Chappell, etc. have been putting out. You just don't hear about so many alt pop latino artists because they're not the focal point of online fan spaces, but they are there and are creating great music. And Gaga is a horrible example of lyricism, if she's difficult to understand, it's mainly because she's more concerned with being nonsensical and creating catchy, great melodies.

I don't think so, and as a native English and Spanish speaker, I wouldn't really be as envious of native English speakers because Spanish tends to be a lot more poetic, clever, and introspective (at least for pop music in the 70's-2000's). Romance and yearning also just sound better, especially with rancheras, and politics in corridos and banda are as quick witted as rap, and I tend to gravitate towards those subjects a lot more. I think if you want to understand more of the context of the music you listen to, it'd be a great idea to watch older comedy series/movies in English (by older, I mean mostly 80's/90's/2000's made content), particularly American media. You can contextualize media more easily when your brain can pull from different references.

This guy should also be a great example to democrats on how to effectively punch back at republicans and also revert to the main issues at hand.

There are also many LGBTQ people living unhappily and under threat of violence all across the US, this is especially true if you're trans. This country barely even ranks top 50 on a gay travel index as recently as this year. Queer people are by far happier in places that can provide free healthcare, a living wage, and adequate access to education moreso than a country that allows you to get married with your partner but bars access to any of the things mentioned. Yes, we have certain privileges that many other countries don't, but you're conflating acknowledging that privilege with deciding to be patriotic about it; it's even more offensive wanting to feel patriotic for the US knowing this country destabilizes other countries and ruins the lives of countless other queer people and their families. You are talking about your own lived experience in one of the most progressive, cosmopolitan cities in the world. The rest of the US is definitely not like NYC or LA and it certainly isn't the haven for LGBTQ people that most like to pretend it is post-marriage equality. Rap is fundamentally very political, and Macklemore himself has always been outspokenly very political. He's been performing Hind's Hall non-stop the last couple of years and always talks about Palestine, among other social issues. This makes Macklemore look honest and transparent, while simply stating what factually happened so that the media can't twist things. It's not on him to protect anyone but himself with that statement, much like you could say it's not on Ed to defend Macklemore. If Ed and his team were so opposed to this, they should have gone over this prior to the tour starting, and they definitely knew going in because things like setlists + visuals are rehearsed prior to shows, so it's not like Ed's team were in the dark about Hind's Hall and the Palestine flag being displayed. So, oh ******* well, how corny to defend powerful apolitical people that feel uncomfortable about getting political, especially those in the arts.
