Do you still like music?

Featured Replies

I dont anymore... I used to like listening to music till 2024. Since last year, i just don't really see the point anymore. Listening to songs feels like a task now, the new Olivia's album was so good but I don't even feel like playing it more than a few times. Music just gives me a headache now

Has the same happened to you, is this a new phenomenon going on? Could it be a disease?

Are you on any SSRIs by chance? I stopped taking my Zoloft so I could listen to MFF and actually enjoy it.

Streaming has given us a large variety of unlimited choices but it can also be extremely overwhelming.

I do like it and I listen to music daily but recently I have trouble with new music releases. Even if they are good I get bored of them quite quickly for some reason while I used to listen to the same songs/albums for weeks.

I always come back to music but in 2011 this happened to me. I was sick of everything I was listening to and couldn't find something that clicked. Then I heard "Album" by the indie rock band Girls.

If I'm not feeling music, I'll just do something else for awhile to reset my brain

I think it's just a part of growing older. I remember staying up for midnight US releases and now I can't even be bothered to seek out leaks anymore.

I feel you. I almost never listen to albums, new or old. As you said it feels like a task, it takes too much time and I always end up bored or disappointed lol. The music industry has drastically changed with streaming and it became a borefest. It's not a hobby or a passion anymore and it hasn't for a long time for me.

As I get older I find myself listening to music less despite having a box full of vinyls

I stopped listening to music when I drive now because the drivers these days are crazier than ever

So it more of a at home activity but when I do I have a blast and can listen to stuff for hours but it's not a every day thing anymore for me like when I was younger

I still enjoyed talented performers, artists, musicians, and producers, but it seems like those are fewer and farther between, now. Just like everything else, music is becoming quickly enshittified.

Now when you find a new artist, you have to check and see if they are even human, and if so, are they just industry plants?

literally how i feel

I mostly listen to music when I'm working out, doing cardio, going for long walks, when I'm working. Otherwise yeah, my desire to listen to music has decreased a lot over the years

I can't listen to new music, honestly they all suck, at least in the mainstream sphere

The last album I really liked was HMHAS, still play it

Olivia's new album is also great but I just don't have the time to invest into a younger artist. It feels like a task

I do, but it's not like it used to be anymore. There are barely any releases that excite me anymore.

Music has become like fast food, they dont feel like eras anymore and there's no lasting impact anymore.

Most songs sound like they are made for tiktok now. They're just 2 minute songs that rush to the chorus without taking any time for a proper build up, no bridge and most of the time the vocals sound more like talking than actual singing.
