dgmw, the music video for The One That Got Away was pretty impactful when I first watched it as a 14 year old and the whole aesthetics of them as an artsy couple was h*t to me and I loved the tattooing scene but idk... Cool is just miles ahead. omfg the scenes of them making out in the alleyway it's so summery and evocative and beautiful... Cool is a true 10/10 from song to video

The One That Got Away, as a song, went by the standard f*cking formula all of Katy's other songs went by around that moment in time. Cool is something entirely different, and like @FailSafe said up there^ it's a bit reminiscent of Say It Right in its keen projection of nostalgic feeling. like oh my f*cking god both it and Say It Right don't even fully feel like they come from this same plane of existence we're on right now they both have this slightly eerie feeling to them. and the fact that each chorus on Cool includes different lyrics? it's a rolling type of feeling, it shows progression and it tells a very poignant story. that song and music video kinda hurts to this day I don't even know which one of my relationships/situationships it reminds me of, but it reminds me in general of that same feeling. so yeah. Cool by far
