Joanne is extremely underrated

Featured Replies

I genuinely think it's a good album. I like it more than ARTPOP. It had some incredible material on it. I think the wrong songs were made singles. I would've done:

1. Diamond Heart
2. Million Reasons
3. Dancin' In Circles
4. Joanne

  • I think it's more overhated than underrated tbh. It's not bad but it was also still kinda half-hearted, lacking, and beneath what Gaga is capable of especially seeing how A Star is Born just two years

it's better than chromatica but that's it

Even as a stan I haven't revisited this album in years. Though I'll always appreciate how Joanne was her first shift away from electronic/dance music.

There's no Bad Gaga Album aside from Love 4 Sale 🤭

That said, I can understand why gays hated it but to say it's BAD is a REACH

The album will always have a special place in my heart as it helped her recover from the AP backlash and it literally crawled so ASIB could run 👏

Also, GP usually clamped JOANNE Era with ASIB so it's still a WIN in the end. Plus Superbowl, Victoria' Secret, Carpool Karaoke and Joanne Tour clap3

I remembered first listen to this album on the long flight oversea... It's a cute album. heart

The lead single should have been either John Wayne or title track btw

Is it? I find it pretentious, boring, ridiculous as to me it never portrayed what gaga really is, most of the songs are really bland and unpleasant to hear

And even the vocals aren't her best.. she does that weird affection to her voice she sometimes do in Angel Down why does she do that

What a let down from gaga and particularly, what a huge massive let down from Mark Ronson. Thankfully it all seems behind now

No it's not, it's her worst album, not a single song is good, even the ballads are awful.

Thank god she released A star is born after because rip

Such a bad take. The album on it's own is objectively good and well crafted. It's just that's not the sound we expect from Gaga especially after ARTPOP. It's too far out of everything the brand Gaga is. That's the only issue. If it was released like a side LP just like Harlequin, it would be better digested by those that expect x and get y.

It's overhated, certainly, but it's probably her worst album.

Mostly because she just couldn't commit fully to the vision, I think. Had she gone full bedazzled country pop, I would have been more on board.

aside from 'hey girl' and 'perfect illusion', the album feels underdeveloped, uninspired, and often grating.

it features some of her weakest vocal performances alongside uneven production (for which mark deserves some blame as well). if the project had leaned further into a soft rock/psychedelic direction, something closer to tusk-era fleetwood mac, it could have been a far stronger and more cohesive record.

top 3 for me! i know most fans don't care for it, and i'm sure it is not her own favorite, but i love it and it will always be special to me.

i don't want her to make joanne ii, but i would love to hear more folk-pop and acoustic guitar in her discography!

Million Reasons is a hymn and idc what y'all f*gs say

The first half of the album (till MR) is still listenable, but good god the second half is a train wreck.

Come to Mama is singlehandedly the worst song a singer can possibly release.

there's actually some cute songs on there, but the album isn't consistent and that's the problem. it really should've leaned into a more psychedelic sound instead.

I gave this a relisten recently, and its still boreanne.
