Solo weeks in the Top 10:

Opalite: 15 weeks

Lady GaGa (artist) since 2013: 2 weeks

It also passed Applause this week which means it has spent more weeks in the top 10 than any solo Lady Gaga song released after 2009, 17 years ago. The kids who were born then are now about to graduate high school!

Let's get out of the charts, let's talk about real life and real people listening to this track organically, that's what I'm talking about. It's crazy to me that you'll are always talking about numbers when Taylor releases a thousand of versions of the same song. Well, congrats to her, but it's not like she's smashing globally in real life.

Let's compare APT, Die With A Smile or Blinding Lights. Now let's think about Ophelia or Opalite or Fortnight or whatever. Do you see the difference? It's not about numbers.

You don't need to have a hit the size of Blinding Lights, APT or Die With Smile to "smash" though. Do you expect these same artists to score a smash of that size for every song they release too?

+ Ophelia has penetrated way beyond the Swift bubble, come on. Pretty sure it can join the ranks of those other smashes in the long run.

  1. All the variants were for US CHARTS, not global.

  2. How do you think a song can chart multiple weeks or be 13 weeks at #1 like Ophelia in Germany? By swifties mass buying the song for months?

  3. It's crazy to me how someone can write something this dumb.

  4. Please stay in school.

Taylor was the youngest woman to be inducted in the Songwriter Hall of Fame

Meanwhile all Rihanna has to do for @rihannasbe$tfrnd to clap for her is she has to turn up in the studio, go up to the mic and sing over finished demos that have already been made for her. Just sing the words on the page Rihanna!

She has been unable to do this for a decade. If that was my fave I'd be mad too

This song is big on tiktok and has spent more than 10 weeks in the top 10, you can say the #1 is not "organic" but you can't say it's not a hit giraffe

Since the charts are getting boring again, here's a Billboard flashback. 25 years ago, this Top 10 is near perfection. Back in this day, everyone knew every song in the Top 10:

March 3, 2001

01 01 Stutter - Joe feat. Mystikal (2nd of 4 weeks at #1)
02 02 It Wasn't Me - Shaggy feat. Ricardo "RikRok" Ducent
03 03 Love Don't Cost a Thing - Jennifer Lopez
04 04 Again - Lenny Kravitz
05 07 Angel - Shaggy feat. Rayvon
06 06 Don't Tell Me - Madonna
07 05 Ms. Jackson - Outkast
08 08 If You're Gone - Matchbox Twenty
09 09 Put It On Me - Ja Rule feat. Lil Mo & Vita
10 11 He Loves U Not - Dream

It's probably because all of those were singles promoted on radio and the only ones available to purchase while non-singles today have equal chances of ranking higher without radio and being official singles.

Taylor is writing history. I stan that.giraffe

Hopefully, the second #1 off TLOAS will make her want to get a third #1 this era.

With the right promo campaign (and physical release), FF, ET and title track could have a shot.

You know well how streaming has changed longevity inside the top 10 or at #1. Applause's reign is from a different era.

Hunny I'd rather my fave get songs written by good song writers than release embarrassing trash like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "Look What You Made me Do", "Me!", "Wood" among many others thing yal acting as if daddy didn't pay for that induction as well.

These arguments would have weight if Taylor didn't tour at the scale that she does. Your propaganda can't erase the reality of 10M people singing along to her singles AND her deep cuts. The culture around Taylor IS that her songs permeate the mainstream, no matter how much you want to pretend they don't.

If the literal biggest tour of all time (on top of 2 decades of healthy touring numbers prior to Eras) isn't proof to you that people actually know her music on a global scale, then I'd hate to assess the careers of the other girls.

Rihanna retiring from music is punishment enough for her stans.

Anyways, OPAL1TE

Don't forget good songwriters like This Is What You Came For.

Wood could go #1 next with a Travis featured video. I don't like Elizabeth Taylor or Father Figure

Well 15 years ago she had already scored a 1M+ debut (the first of her record of 8) with Speak Now so idk maybe you not believing her being succesful would've been more of a you issue

Ok, Taylor is a flop because ATRL user tellmeyouloveme says so and multiple weeks #1 or top 10 songs can't be count because those are numbers and numbers aren't consumed by real people globally as the measurement for active listing aren't charts. Alright.

Now go back to your asylum and stay there as facts and logic aren't helping anymore. Wish you the best. heart2

good for her standards when streaming and radio and regular digital sales wasn't able to do it clap3

Well, Gaga has released plenty of music during the streaming era so where is that top 10 solo longevity?

Abracadabra, the biggest female solo song of 2025 according to streaming services year end lists, has never departed the top 10!

Meanwhile Ophelia has already departed twice 🤣
