Completely disregarding any moral gripes: All The Love is cute, but it would've felt like filler on an earlier album  The chorus is good, but I don't think it has the humanity or memorability of her actual best songs (which, IMO, are mostly on One of the Boys). I feel like it being the highlight just emphasizes how lackluster the project ended up being.

 

My dream for Ms. Perry is that she either reunites with one of the writers that actually brings out her personality (i.e. Bonnie McKee) or she shifts away from 2010s pop entirely, returns to her roots. I know she's capable of writing, cuz I've heard songs like Fingerprints, I'm Still Breathing, Ur So Gay. She has wit and references, but she's not using them.

The problem is not that it's short, but that user described it as quite bad so :/ not having my expectations high

Where is the accountability in all of this for Katy herself? No one can "make" Katy believe anything. She made the decision to work with Dr. Luke—don't blame those around her for what was ultimately her decision. 
 

 

I hope she makes a good song this time around. 

For me the songs length isn't really a big issue. As long as it at least has a solid arrangement with a verse, pre-chorus, chorus, it's fine. Not every song needs a long intro, bridge or outro. 

 

I just hope she doesn't push this out of touch "feminine devine" narrative anymore cause hearing about it in her interviews made me sick at a certain point.

oh let's not...her demos literally sound no different from the final versions for the past two eras even Tove Lord can't save her music i fear

It generally depends on how the song is structured. Songs like APT. & Taste don't sound short because they're fleshed out.

 

If this song is half drops during the chorus it's going to feel long and lifeless.

 

But Katy needs a follow up quickly while she's back in the spotlight (for better or worse) so hopefully it's good.
