I'm glad they don't have crazy rabid stans with low musical standards like these other groups because it makes it easy to get tickets to see them. I've really enjoyed watching their organic growth as a group and I really hope they continue to grow musically and stats wise. They deserve all the success for giving us bops every year since 2022.

ive been listening to a lot of pussycat dolls these days due to their comeback era and it makes me think about how when i grow up became a hit, it did so because the song was everywhere. like 5 year old me was belting out "WHEN I Grow UP I WANNA HAVE BOOBIES"

my point tho is between american idol performances, the radio, just promo in general being so different in 2008/9, it was possible to get a hit based on the merit of the song itself and also partially how well it is performed and sold (a la "when i grow up"). i feel like at that time, if the song was of a certain quality and got enough exposure, it was a guaranteed hit. but if this was still how things worked, FLO would have like 5 #1s by now and this would be easily a smash hit.

its just so frustrating bc it feels like no matter how good the song itself is, how good the video is, how good the promo is, and even how viral it goes on platforms, none of this equates to chart success and overall success the way it once did. sure we still have breakthroughs like espresso and Chappell's stuff, but these people become like THE cultural moment then. i mean PCD and when i grow up where never THE moment (ok maybe in 2006 they were sorta kinda), but like they still got cute hits and charted and had enough success to be comfortable. Now days its either you are one of the very few cultural icons with all the hits or a complete flop -- but no middle ground as there used to be.

sorry for the rant, i just feel like FLO deserves the world and they have done everything to try to breakthrough, they have played the game AND they are legit the whole package -- it feels like the current state of the music industry is whats messed up and broken and this is whats keeping them from ever "breaking through" in a traditional sense the way they deserve to

People are going to hate this, but going viral on tiktok is the way to go. Even radio doesn't have any pull when it comes to making songs hits with the public these days.

I doubt Flo will get the credit but the concept of a girl group was pretty much dead in the early 20s then card board box drops barely one year later suddenly a explosion of girl groups… especially 3 group members girl group…

They need to tour festivals, open for established acts (missed opportunity from their team not to get them an opening slot for Tate McRae's So Close to What), so they could build a fanbase.

For Trios, I can see your point, but I'd argue that the global notoriety and recognition of Kpop girl groups were the real catalysts for this new wave. I know y'all like to distinguish them from mainstream music, but their success is what ultimately propelled the current influx of girl groups.

I don't understand the hype for this one in this thread. The "this one's gonna teach my ex a lesson" part is great but the rest kinda sounds a bit like a Tate/PCD reject?
