In the very deep past? Maybe. Obviously not in the Hollywood "human to wolf magical transformation" kind of way, but let's say when we homo sapiens were getting our feet wet as a species maybe there were a few offshoot branches of our family with more distinctly lupine traits. It seems plausible to me that they may have existed but in such few numbers or in such remote conditions as to leave no trace at all.
