I love Gaga ballads. Sometimes I like them more than her pop stuff.

But I will never understand why this base loves Happy Mistake so much, but drags Hold My Hand, Dope and Blade of Grass so much. Happy Mistake might be Gaga's most simple/basic ballad, while the others I listed are more emotionally raw and have interesting points of view

I feel like its the opposite? Happy Mistake is a multi-layered song about Gaga reflecting all of her "personas" since the beginning of her career all the way up to J:Fad. It's also about her endless journey about Gaga being the "broken bird" which is why he sounds haunting in the song. It ties into MAYHEM more naturally than Blade of Grass. Hold My Hand is an okay song but it is without a doubt her most "basic" ballad. It's a pop ballad written for a soundtrack and it sounds like it. I do appreciate Dope though since its Gaga at her most vulnerable.

Happy Mistake brought something new in Gaga's ballads, with more vulnerability and new vocals.

Hold My Hand is quite generic and nothing special, and stained by that atrocious BloodPoop intro.

Blade of Grass' main problem is its chorus being an overused melody in the pop landscape. It's uninspired, which is pretty sad for a song about her fiancé.

I'd argue Dope is undeservedly hated though. It's way better than I Wanna Be With You, and the infamous vocals actually serve a point in the storystelling.

Bruno's presence on the track is pretty annoying

She uses a nice smooth pleasant tone in Happy Mistakes. I legit watched so many Dope live performances just looking for one where she doesn't use those ugly vocals and it just does not exist.
