Ok I've had a closer look. I actually don't think this is AI. The pattern on her shirt matches perfectly. The leash is being worn with a bracelet strap because that's how the leash is designed to be work (she just doesn't have it on in the pic with two crocs). If anything, this is an AI upscale of an unreleased photo - which is unfortunately just a very common graphic design tool these days.

you dont see that the houndstooth pattern in the top on the left has little holes in the squares where it should be solid like it is in the right? that's an ai artifact for sure.

it might not be Gen AI, but there is definitely ai at use here.

and why would she not own the raw masters to her photos? why would she need to upscale? its just kinda sloppy coming from B of all people.

I think it's just the result of upscaling an image. Generative upscaling has been around for almost a decade now. It's not always perfect but nowhere near as morally unconscionable as fully generative AI.

oh i'm moreso criticizing her lack of creative direction and what is seemingly laziness from someone who has always been incredibly meticulous. i'm more than sure she's used AI before, but she has a team of graphics people to make sure it doesn't look like ai.

beyonce of yore would've had the team digging through her archives to find the exact fonts and photoshop files used to make the OG cover.

that combined with the $200 vinyl with omitted songs, the entire spanish vinyl that nobody asked for, tacking on a song from 2013 and using the style of your current unfinished trilogy is rly giving cash grab to me and leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. idk

im usually not on the hating side of the club but i'm just so unhappy with this whole thing lol

She's definitely used AI before. A lot of her RWT visuals were clearly generative AI (the echoville black and white expanding artwork and the Renaissance painting were obviously AI imo, and half the horses in her cowboy Carter photoshoot seemed generative.

but tbh I think the choice of that alligator photo from the era as the alt cover for this rerelease is perfectly reasonable and honestly probably the best choice from the album booklet. likewise, I think the anniversary theming around her modern aesthetic is actually kinda fun and silly. It looks nice and its cheeky! I don't get the hate at all for that part of it

yes i agree that she did use it on the RWT. and i think it makes sense to use it there because its a techno-dystopian theme.

the horses for CC were rendered by Frederik Heyman though. just another way she used to be a lot more meticulous in her creative direction.

because this has absolutely nothing to do with the project that has been announced half a decade ago, a project that keeps being delayed and is already plagued by inconsistencies and vagueness

nobody asked for this reissue and her playing the anniversary game is nice and all, but there's no reason to start doing it now in the middle of a totally different project that people actually want. it's just confusing and messy and it would be nice if she did something these days that wasn't both of those things

Am I the only one completely happy with the vinyl release? The packaging is beautiful and if it's anything like the packaging for Renaissance and Cowboy Carter it's gonna be great quality. The booklet sounds amazing. I love B'Day so this is everything I could've wanted.

Price is high but nothing Bey related has been cheap for a while now.
