Do you admire Katy's resilience?

Featured Replies

Katy's post-Witness output hasn't exactly been smooth. Smile came and went, 143 didn't spark the comeback some expected, and 'bandaids' is looking underwhelming on streaming.

And yet… She keeps going. New music, new aesthetics, new attempts to reconnect with audiences who moved on years ago. She doesn't disappear, she doesn't rebrand into something "serious," she doesn't give up. She just… keeps trying.

So… do you admire Katy Perry's resilience? Discuss.

i feel like katy is - like most pop girls - someone who is desperate for affirmation, and she can get that to some degree with the big back catalogue tours but what she really wants is to still be #1 and she can't let it go.

idk if i admire her for it but i don't hate her like a lot of people do. i think it's probably her most relatable feature, only scaled up to the degree that only the egos of major stars can sustain

I would have been perfectly content to stay home and gnaw on Orlando's pubes for days on end so good for her, I guess.

No. That's just a rich woman unbothered because she can shield herself from critics in her mansions.

Economically it's just stupid since she can just tour without wasting money on new music and videos.

Nothing a trip on the Bezos yacht can't fix I guess :rip:

Katy has experienced some very difficult moments these last couple of years. The severe media scrutiny and backlash is definitely not easy to go through for anyone. And even beyond the career related stuff, her personal life was also not that well. Orlando cheating on her during all of this and having to call off the engagement.

Despite all of this she still continues to work and put up a smile every night. That takes resilience and a lot of inner work. So yes I definitely respect her ability to hold her chin up and just continue. And I hope better days and more luck is ahead of her!

Yes, it takes courage and grit to reinvent yourself every quarter in hopes to secure general relevance again. I know she stares at her dusty vision boards with Billboard magazine cutouts of the Hot 100 from the past decade. It's not easy to pray everyday to a deity for a hit song and receive indifference in return.

At the end of the day she's making money. More than anyone with a 9-5 is. So..

I actually do, all things considered. Gotta give her props for keeping it moving, specially with her current tour.

It's literally her job and passion lmao why would she stop?

Her after releasing 78 flops in 2056

Yes. Katy is such a resilient person, and the way she keeps it going, puts on a SHOW almost every single night now on the Lifetimes Tour, connects with her fans, makes music (which I love and enjoy, as do others despite what you all want to think). She IS resilient and I DO admire her for that.

I thought this thread would be about her song on Witness

"Resilient" was on Smile

She definitely is resilient and it gave us her best 2020s hymn "Daisies" - she was serving choreo while 8 months pregnant in a pandemic on American Idol cashing a $25M check

Yes.

You all can called her a flop or over whatever but she still making music, performs at awards show and going on tour, and guess what? People still paying money to see her, real people.

3/5 of the hate she got was because she worked with Luke

She should just apologize and start fresh but I know she feels like she's right and people are just hating

admiration is not a feeling or state i ascribe to katy perry at this current moment in time sadly no
